I was here early in the season and everyone was crying about how this team wouldn't win 6 games and that Fulmer had to go immediately...and I even began to think the same after the Florida debacle...and I dared mention that I thought we could beat Georgia and South carolina and got bashed by 95% of the people here who said I am drinking the Kool Aid.

Well...The Vols are now 8-3 with wins over Ark, UGA and So Caro, and even though the bama game hurt, UT wins and UT plays for the SEC Championship.

I know I haven't been around much, due in part to recently buying a new home (using dad's web when I can) and due in part to the negativity here...but I wanna know if everyone's world is still coming to an end.

I also said early on that UK would be very good and would beat us...hopefully that ends up being wrong, but the problems they possess are evident. Hopefully our secondary is up to the task. I was rooting for UGA cuz hopefully now the cats will be down now that they have nothing to play for.

I still think Fulmer should go.

My reason? The position we are in now we didnt really earn. I mean if it werent for this season being one of the wildest seasons ever, we would probably be sitting 3rd or 4th in the east with 2 losses.

I still think Fulmer should go simple because the lack of consistency. Our team can pound Georgia into a pulp one week, and then a couple of weeks later almost get beat by Vandy. And yes we should have lost to Vandy.

Nevermind the lateral pass and abandonment of the run...

I still don't think we're a very good team and have back-doored our way to where we are. That being said, the team and coaching staff have done a great job of persevering and continuing to work hard.

I can't see Fulmer holding serve against the better coaches in the SEC right now.

Winning the SEC is about the only thing that will take the sting of 100-37 away.

Please tell me who in the SECe earned a trip to the SECCG over UT.

So what do we think of next season's outlook? Is Crompton the guy to get us anywhere? Will the D improve it's tackling?

I LOVE Lincoln BTW. It'll be nice to have him for 3 more years.

Assuming UT wins, no one. If UT loses, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida.

And that's my point. UT took care of business better than those teams and put themselves into position to fulfill their pre-season goals. All the "UT backed in" or "we don't deserve..." stuff is just crap. If we lose to UK it's UGA that backed in, not UT.

i still can't get over the fact that if UT, UF, and UGA win out, UT will be first in the SECE, and still be nationally ranked beneath UF and UGA.

The position we are in now we didnt really earn.

This has definitely been a screwy season, but SEC divisions have been won with 2 losses plenty of times. To say we won't have earned it if we finish in 1st is ridiculous.

I'll say this, we win this Saturday then no one deserves going to Atlanta in the East more than we do.

We Lose on Saturday then no one deserves going to Atlanta more than Georgia does.

And, that is the way the system is set up and it seems to be working, because if we win, we go, if we lose UGA goes.

I would still love to see UGA lose to Ga Tech this weekend just to screw them out of a decent Bowl game.

well, here we go. "back door", "we didn't earn it".

blah.

for a fan base that has been screaming about not winning championships, some of you need to just relax on that talk.

they didn't earn it? i tell you what......beating GA, ARK, SC, and Vandy, 2 of those games many of us didn't think they would win, remember that folks?, i'd say they have done plenty to earn it.

moreover, given the way this season started, i think if they do win Saturday, you now have to talk about how this team stayed together, didn't give up on the season and finished strong.

let's walk down memory lane for just a second.....last year, after we throttled GA, many of us were very excited about that "big" win in Athens. then GA lost to Vandy and KY and many, self included, tried to sell the GA game as "not that big of a win" at the end of the season.

well i contend that looking back on it now.......guess what the biggest game of the year so far has been?

GA. 35-14 domination of a top 10 ranked team, at home now turns out to be HUGE. FL is not even in the running.

we don't beat GA, we're not even speculating about SEC E crowns. the only debate now is, is it Memphis, Shreveport or Nashville.

So if you want to ask someone if we earned it......ask GA. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of the season, and who knows, maybe we'll actually be in ATL. Where GA, FL, SC and 8 other SEC teams will be watching with envy.

Go Vols.

Don't know about everybody else but if we can't get excited this week, what kind of fans are we!!! We aren't gettting much respect because most people think GA/LSU would be a better match up. They give us grief over a 1 point win over Vandy but no credit for running over GA and they are ranked in the top 10.....what is that about? I'm glad we are the 'underdog' with KY and LSU....maybe that will give us more incentive and motivation. We are sitting on an opportunity to go to the SECC and many teams would LOVE to be in our place and I do think we earned it....sure we have had frustrating moments but who hasn't? I am excited and hope the team and coaches are on the same page for KY....GO VOLS!!!

Im proud of the team for where they are, but to win this week it will take a perfect game. Players as well as coaches. If our rediculous play calling continues and we cant hold on to the ball for long drives we will be ran out of the stadium easily.

i agree..i too am excited about the position we are in...we have a chance to play for the
SECCG...someone tell me the difference in us and Georgia..something tells me GA fans are hoping we lose so that can get in the proverbal "back door" and they would be excited to get there....in a year where eveyone loses...it's hard not to take the east by default...just be glad we hold the keys to that door

I still want change on the coaching staff. I feel Fulmer's time has come and gone. I will probably get blasted by this, but I do not feel barely beating Vandy makes up for losing 59-20 to Florida, who hasn't looked that great since, and losing 41-17 to Alabama, who just got beat by Louisiana Monroe.

If we make it to the championship game and somehow pull off the miracle beating LSU, and make our first BCS bowl in almost 10 years, I hope Fulmer follows Loyd Carr's example and steps down gracefully. This program needs energy and new blood.
