So...what if we lose tomorrow?

Good. Get some meat to your arguments and support this team.

The other will have to wait until next year or beyond.

Evidently the powers that be don't want to pull the trigger just yet. I think he is OJT.

You need your fan card pulled, you are right about that because all this crap you are stirring at this time is a reason to pull it.

Meat? Does that include pearls like this True Fan jibberish? Could you explain to me some actual meat about the problems I have, and have explained repeatedly, regarding the myriad of problems I have with Martin?

Also, you are confusing my loyalty to the program with your loyalty to a coach.

That's been my stance, and even more so now.

Why fire Martin for a hot name like Pitino Jr? What has he done that Martin now hasn't?

Fact is, unless you're gonna go out and hire Marshall, Howland, Buzz etc you might as well see what you've got currently.

Perhaps those other guys are just overpaid, football money not wisely spent.

Have you been drinking.? Just get over it. You are posting he is a mediocre coach like chicken kittle stating the sky
is falling. That's old, been identified for weeks if not months sorry you got here late to the discussion, but it is old news. Need to get over it.

News Flash: Martin will be back next season with an extension and raise, Unless he chooses to leave. Pearl is at Auburn....not a factor.

Our next coach would be a janitor if Martin is fired .Nobody in their right mind would come here.

Just a couple of examples here:

Pistons fire Rick Carlisle off three straight East finals and Larry Brown takes their job.

UCLA fires Ben Howland after winning the PAC 12 and Steve Alford dumps a 2.3 mil extension at New Mexico to take over.

That was pro basketball. Wayyyyy different. Also that was a bad decision. Also Carlisle only led Detroit to one ECF.

UCLA job>>>Tennessee job

If you fire a coach with his winning percentage and a win in the tournament in his 3rd year, who would want to replace him?

especially after the way UT BBall fans ragged him....they can go to an average Big 10 school, be paid & appreciated

So...what if we lose tomorrow?

How secure is CCM's job at that point?

Before you say it's not likely, just look at this season as a whole. Many ups and downs.

Is it just me or do we get a "So what happens if we lose tomorrow?" thread the day before every game since the SEC tourney started? I'm seeing a trend.

it is threads like this one, Coach Martin is leaving because he wants too.....our fan base
has thrown him under the bus. Next year he goes to Purdue.....And they will love him from day one.....

Here's my take on CCM's status at Tennessee.

1. CCM is still "learning" on to be a successful coach. I believe he knows this and he wants to better himself. If he doesn't, and he thinks he has reached his peak, we are doomed...but I highly doubt he thinks that way.
2. CCM is putting value to any "improvement" or success he has for "himself". He has the right to do that and I applaud him. Question is, what are the expectations Hart has for Tennessee instead of CCM. Is Hart willing to give CCM time to "develop" as a HC through the resources of TN?
3. I believe that Tennessee is a "final destination" for a HC, but I don't think CCM looks at like that. He most likely has his eye for a specific school. Butch Jones said this was his "dream job"...meaning HIGH on his list of jobs ever. I don't remember if CCM said anything remotely like that about TN.
4. Hart never hired the guy. He doesn't have to keep CCM just for that reason alone. For me, I take pride when I discover something great by myself and not when it was handed to me.
5. Hart is getting CCM for cheap. The only way we can actually know how Hart feels about CCM is by the next "contract". Raise, extension, buy-outs, etc...

The only way he leaves is if it's his choice. Bill King on Sirius Radio this morning was saying he thought Counzo should go somewhere else because he thinks he's reached his peak here. I'm afraid he might be right. King is not a UT homer even though he went to UT...he's very unbiased, and usually knows of what he speaks...

I think Martin's heart is and will always be in the Big 10. I think he is a great coach, he's just not the right fit for this type of fan base. Our fan base wants a high energy type coach. One that will scream, one that will get out and market the program and that will be involved with the fans. Martin isn't that. Doesn't mean he's a bad coach because there are plenty of great coaches that are like that. They need a Butch Jones/Bruce Pearl type coach that's going to get them fired up. Regardless I think Martin will succeed wherever he goes, but I think he would be better somewhere else.

I've got a masters degree and am pretty far up the pay scale from janitor. For $2 mil a year don't get between me and the AD's office if there's an opeining.

Don't kid yourself, most every coach in America making under $1 mil will be falling all over themselves to apply for the UT job if it becomes open. CCM may be better than all of them. If they win today, I think Hart has to offer at least a one year extension along with a salary bump. If the wheels come off next year, then make a move. I'm rooting CCM continues to improve with his in game strategy and offensive game planning such that he coaches at UT for 10+ years!

I hope he leaves ONLY because of the fans here.He has too much class and morals for yall.BBB! SMH

If I was coach the first chance I would get I would bolt, even if the job was UTAH STATE, then we can go and get another Mid Major coach, look where Pearl was at before he came here it was not like we went to UCLA and we lured him away, we just got lucky with him.

One tourney appearance in 3 years in which you had to play in in the play in game does not get you anything but disdain from people who want Tennessee to be successful.

To top it off next year will be a train wreck of epic proportions as CCM will be living off all his own players.

It will be a miracle if we average 40 points a game next year.

CCM aint going anywhere but do not act like there is nothing to be concerned about because he one the play in game to the tourney.

What would you expect him to do? Put on a UT helmet and publicly disavow Auburn?

Those that like CBP did so for this very reason, and because he won basketball games.

IMO, him doing the same at the school that had the intelligence to hire him doesn't make me hate the guy.

Reality is that Auburn and Pearl have gotten as much coverage, and in some cases more, than many teams that are currently in the tourney.
