This is not the time to goof around...he needs to make a big hire...even if it's Ozzie Guillen...heeeey now that's a name that would be fun even if he doesn't coach football.

My first memory of big boy football is the day my father took me to see Johnny Majors run the single wing against, I believe, Wofford College. I was in the second grade. I attended UT during the Jim McDonald/Mallon Faircloth debacle and have been a faithful supporter for 60 years. And, yes, I"m one of those old timers who still loves PF. But, I am making one simple declaration: If it's Bobby Petrino, I'm done! Any man who would leave a team in the middle of the season and would notify his players by leaving a note in their lockers (not even handwritten) Is a straight up PUNK who deserves not an ounce of respect or support!

You don't fire one Saban coach and hire another. Everyone knows who runs the defense at Bama. I could be the DC at Bama and they would still be great. :question: Ok maybe not me, but you get my point.

With their talent and micro managing Saban, YES YOU could be the next hot HC prospect.

I don't think we get Smart but it wont be because of Hart. Its because the big money don't want smart. if it were up to Hart I do believe we would have Kirby Smart as our next coach. Like I keep saying, think of the AD as the spokesman for the boosters. He has to own the decision but he is NOT making it.

Before the season started I thought that it would be Smart if Dooley didn’t get it done this year; however, now I don’t know that it will work out well for Hart if it happens. There is a lot of former Saban back lash going on now and I don’t know if Hart wants to tread those waters or not.

I think that we would be better off to let Dooley complete his contract and then hire a non homerun type hire. I just can’t see letting Dooley go and doing the payout for anything less than a big name hire.

Yes, Gruden would be that hire, but I will believe it when I see it, but again I would love it. I think some of the other coaches that would fit the category would be Patterson from TCU or maybe even Strong from Louisville for a reach pick if they are interested. I don’t know if Petrino would count as I can see quite a few people being unhappy with him. I don’t know if I would really want him with all of his baggage. On the other hand he is one heck of a football coach though. You would also need a huge buy out for him with his penchant for leaving early.

My reaction to Smart would be the same as my reaction to Dooley. Not who I wanted but that's who we got so let's see wat he can do. Hopefully Gruden will be named soon and put an end to all of this.

It seems like most of you dudes or duddetts just don't get that there isn't a coach that wants to come here. If there was a big up and coming coach that really wanted the job we wouldn't have gotten DD. All the coaches know that this the SEC and you have to be a damn good coach to come here and have to be able to get the talent to come play at UT or you will be out the door in 3-4 yrs. VANDY has better recruits coming in next year. I know some folks say * don't mean jack but if you don't have them you better be 2x the coach that your coaching against. If we lose to Vandy or Ky or both we have hit rock bottom. Dooley has more talent then when he came here and these players have been in the same O since then have been here. Why aren't they winning. Not getting coached up very good. Players on D act like they can't read what happening and make a play. Most of the time the D is just running around hoping they are in the right place at the right time. Our QB acts like he is on the rag and scared to get dirty. Always throws while running backwards. Throws more balls to the other side or out of bounds. Coach doesn't seem to have any answers as to what's wrong ever!!!!! Rutgers, Louisville, LaTech, ND, Penn St,Fl, Fl St.all have coaches that have been there under 5 years and looks at them. We should be right there with them but we aren't. We need a great football coach not a great name. No one wants to be Duke or USCe and wait 7 years for everything to fall in place and be the worst in the east!!!!!!!!

The last thing we need now is another assistant or coordinator that has never been a head coach. Need an example? Look no further than the coach we have now

I totally agree that was the condition of the program when Dooley was hired and that is why he was able to get the job, but I also believe that the program is in much better shape now than it was then and that there is much more talent on the team to work with. This is why I think that we have a better chance of getting a name coach now.

Yes sorta, for whatever reason they weren't willing to pay for a big name when Kiffin left. IMO it had alot to do with the renovations. So its not so much that they wanted Dooley but he was willing to except the terms.
