So what happens to Oregon.....

He's one of those "Buffett Pledge Billionaires" who has pledged to give away 90+% of his wealth.

If he makes good on that, he could toss 10-20M of his 1B+ shares of Oracle at an NIL group that's friendly to MI which would give them a nice dividend income without bothering the principle. That's hardly a stretch.
The Giving Pledge is about giving money to philanthropic causes. I'm not sure throwing money at NIL collectives qualifies as that.

When you have 230B to divest, 20-30-40-50 million to an NIL is essentially pocket change.

I'm sure his major gifts will be philanthropic but in the big scheme of his wealth, funding an NIL with a 50M endowment really is throwaway money.

I know he (or his wife) was supposedly instrumental in getting Underwood to come to Michigan, but Ellison doesn't strike me as a guy who wants to give a ton of money to college athletics. I guess his wife might after he passes.

That's the deal. He and she weren't even on the radar of "boosters" but tossing $10M at a kid was like me giving $10 to a grandkid.

As we've seen Knight's $35B net worth making Oregon a power without denting his fortune, a guy with 7 x Knight's wealth doesn't have to care much, if at all, to make a big difference.
