Has it come down to us calling a Freshman a bust? I know this year we have to rely on a bunch of Freshman but come on, give the kid a break. Come junior year and someone calls him a bust (if there are no certain reasons) then yeah your argument might be valid.

:lolabove: You're first sentence is comical coming from a guy with an alien as his avitar. BTW - you'll probably have to start using a different clique than "...what the doctor ordered..." going forward with your lovely Obamacare. Perhaps...."...what the gov'ment bureaucrat ordered...."??

clique....really? I have had run in's with Woodsie in the past, but dummy he ain't. You on the other hand, from the very first sentence here, have established yourself as a _____. Fill in the blank folks.

Nice to know I can light up your life and make you laugh, you need it. Thanks for the compliment. Advisory: Learn to spell, it's avatar, not avitar. You're welcome. Also sentences should begin with a capital letter. You're welcome again.

It being this is a free country, I can use any phrasing I want. For your further edification in the English language, a clique isn't what you clearly misuse the term for. Clique = a small group of people who spend time together and exclude other people from their group. Cliche, is the term you should have used, though you tried but failed. Cliche = a phrase or expression that has been used so often that it is no longer original, interesting, or effective.

Finally, you're irrelevantly associating Obamacare to my comments about why Freak instituted certain types of content from the board. This indicates you are insecure and tend to reach haphazardly for verbal reactions to cover up that insecurity. However, you only succeed in exposing your ignorance as exhibited in your post. Finally, your post implies that Freak is, as you phrase it, a "gov'ment bureaucrat" on account of his new rule and my providing possible reasons for it. You're very welcome to the free education you so obviously needed. I'm not charging you for it because clearly you can't afford the fee being so uneducated and all.

Beatdown....:eek:hmy:

Hehe. Actually, that looks more like the work of text correction on a tab or phone than a spelling attempt. :p

Dude was supposed to be a star receiver and I haven't even as much as heard his name...

Where is Drae Bowles? First, he was 1 of only 2 VOLS to be placed on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for 2012-2013. Did you happen to watch the Oregon game? #7 was chasing down De'Anthony Thomas on our kickoffs and preventing a TD. He is also working with Coach Z and the other WR's. Sometimes I wonder why people post such ridiculous thread. We should be grateful we have a player with his intellect and athletic abilities.

Even he never contributes anything substantial on the field, Drae is a kid you want around the locker room simply for his personality and attitude.

just because there are people that predict someone is going to be a star, doesn't mean it happens. My guess, from watching for almost 50 years is, that is 50-50 on players that reach their high school ranking in college. means a dozen or so signees every year are not going to measure up to projections..

Price was a TRUE freshman, not a red-shirt freshman. Where as, Bowles is a red shirt.

He's still a Freshman and will have 3 more years after this one. My point was it's way to early to give up on him.

Good catch though I tried to slip one by the uneducated.:hi:

that is just not a good comparison - Pprice was a freshman on a team that was absolutely loaded with talent and ended up #2 in the country

this team was not loaded with talent and had basically no production returning at this kid's position - it is a perfect opportunity to play - i am not saying there is no chance he will, but when you can't crack the 2 deep in this type of situation the odds you stay and don't get recruited over are low

I wasn't comparing the two as players I was merely pointing out that it's way to early to give up on Bowles.

You're right though Price wasn't the best example since he was exceptional and I'm not sure Bowles has that kind of skill even when healthy. Doesn't mean he can't be a solid contributor down the road though.

Meachem was a red shirt junior when he blossomed. Also, his improvement co incided with Trooper being his position coach.....

Trooper did well with Houston & Riggs when he was the runningbacks coach and he did well with Meachem when he was the receivers coach.

I agree Trooper did a good job as receivers coach but Meachem's improved stats as a Junior had more to do with getting a healthy Ainge back. Rick Clausen QB'ed most of Meachems Sophomore year so there was no hope for big numbers.

He was an ESPN 150 4* star receiver coming out of high school. From what I seen from his highlights, he had good hands and pretty good speed. A lot of scouts said he had a similar body type to Dez Bryant coming out of high school. He has good talent and I expect him to contribute the years he's here.

He was a little Overrated in HS played against some weak talent. He was bigger and faster than most in HS. Terrible hips has trouble getting in and out of breaks on his routes. That's why he isn't playing. Great blocker I hear and will work his butt off. Some things you just can't help or teach...

That whole offense sucked in 05. Decent run game but that was it.

What surprises me is the fact that it's not due to character. Typically when a player bust it's due to character or attitude or lack of want to. But Bowles is arguably one of the strongest character guys on the team and a kid of faith. We know the talent is there and you'd assume due to his strong character one would assume he's working hard, so I'm lost to why we haven't seen him.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^is simply not true! Unless you claim their falling backwards or running into tackles Taylors doing!

Lol at the Dez comparison. Hopefully something clicks, but if you can't crack this inexperienced rotation, it's not looking good down the road. One of the reason we are bringing in Juco guys
