So...West Virginia's Defense...

I was just watching last years WVU/Texas game and they got ran over by a bad Texas team...I've gained some confidence that we can beat these guys if we keep the ball offensively and get some long drives going and wear their defense out.

I know we won't be Oklahoma good on offense, but they seem swiss cheese on defense.

So you are going to use the Heisman trophy winning Baker Mayfield led OU offense as your example? That same offense made Georgia look like swiss cheese. And OU would have set records againstbour defense last year. Very poor attempt op.

And we got ran over by Vanderbilt and almost lost to UMASS.

Can u win shootout tho

I know you guys wanna believe Pruitt can contain that passing attack but first game against holgerson/grier and a good wr group is gonna be rough esp first game

But who knows

You haven't read anything I've written. It's cool though.

I seriously believe Pruitt is a decent enough coach that 2 players can't beat him. There are 9 other players for WVU that are suspect on offense and their whole defense of players are suspect. If you put UT's 22 up against their 22, we boat race them. We had an extremely poor coaching effort the last few years. The question becomes is the Fulmer/Pruitt coaching combo capable of turning our 22 around early? I thnk they can and do. It would surprise me not and frankly I expect a blowout I do not see this game as close. If the remnants of last year's Vols show up, the Mountaineers are playing their 3s and 4s the second half. If Pruitt is the coach many thinks he is, by the 4th quarter the WVU defense is helpless and their offense is not a factor.

This will be a good one to save and return back to.....

in the traditional sense, i would say that is doubtful.

to me this game comes down to two things:
1. do we have enough running game to spell the defense and play a little keep keep away?
2. how do we tackle in space?

if we do those two things well, we'll have a shot at winning. we're not going to stop WVU from scoring. i'll be absolutely shocked if they don't score at least 24....i think that's the floor.

so we'll see how it goes.

I understand their optimism because I would be in the same boat if I were them but rarely do transfers and freshman make a huge difference in year one. There are reasons players transfer and they are generally not because they were super awesome, seeking new challenges. It is generally because you are looking for a new start or more playing time and in general impactful players don’t need either, but there are exceptions. They may turn out to be great players but it won’t be in game one against a competent opponent. Just like Keller Chryst likely isn’t going to be the next Doug Flutie especially in his first game as a UT starter

Isn’t Scar replacing a bunch of their D and rolling out a new O coordinator this season who has never called plays before? Muschamp has an AMAZING record hiring offensive coordinators, so we will see how that goes. After all...it’s year 3, isn’t that also about the time Champ usually melts down and destroys his programs? Cuz it Looks like he got an early start this year by defending DJ Durkin of all people.
