So Von Pearson, does he start against Bowling Green?

Start? Who cares

Playing time? If he's on the roster as a WR (which he is) and he is healthy and in shape ( which sources say he is) how could they not play him?

Whether he is in the first series or not doesn't really matter... He will see playing time against BG along with probably 5 or 6 other guys at least. Now if you meant will he get a bulk of the load as far as being on the field...its a pretty good assumption

my opinion, ...... he will not start, but will see a few snaps here and there. Will start for the Sooner game.

Honestly as much as we rotate the WR position it doesn't really matter if he starts. North, Pearson, Pig, and Smith will all see the field a ton. Really whoever "starts" will just bw the specific schemed plays they have planned first. And Jennings, Croom, Johnson, and Williams (assuming he returns) will see plenty of snaps as well. Although I am personally still an advocate for redshirting Williams if we can. Or at least Jennings...one of em.

Do you not like Malone?

Because it's Bowling Green, I could see Butch benching him for a quarter or half. Beyond that, he starts every game that he's healthy.

BTW, we will of course win, but BG is going to put up points on us....

They will, late in the game when our backups are in. Comparing their QB's stats last year to this game is a false equivalency. We play on a completely different level than they do. We will have the best D-line, LBs, and secondary they have faced. Their receivers won't have separation like they usually do. Their QB won't have 5 seconds in the pocket to throw it. Their RBs won't be able to outrun our LBs to the edges.

Brings up a good question. If we do run up the score on BG and everyone is getting snaps what do you do with Dobbs? Do you leave him in the whole game? There are only freshmen behind him, which I am sure Butch is wanting to keep their redshirts. Do you burn a redshirt to get them snaps in case of injury to Dobbs?

No, but he'll be on the field for as many plays as any other receiver. Start him and TV will tell the suspension story ad naseum.

You could always redshirt one this year and one next year... if it came to it.

If Pig and Von both start, who is in the slot? Von is great but based on positions, I would have guessed

WR1 - Noth
WR2 - Malone
Slot - Pig

#4 - Pearson
#5 - Smith
Red Zone - Croom

Future Stars - Wiliams, Jennings

Let me know your thoughts

Actually with him missing time I hope he doesn't start. Him coming off the bench means Malone and North have played well enough to keep the job, mainly Malone. This only means we are deeper. After a lay off if he comes right in and starts someone lost the spot. Best case scenario for this team is Pig North Malone. That shows Malone has improved and we are very very deep.

You always have a back up QB ready to go. Attempting to redshirt both of them would be foolish. Think about the UGA game last year, need a back up for a quarter. Also if Dobb's helmet comes off he has to sit out a play. One of these kids needs some live snaps when the pressure isn't on him just in case something happens to Dobbs

Only one of them will RS. The other one needs to get snaps in case he's needed later in the year.

Does Von start? No but it doesn't matter he will play as much if not more then anyone else as long as he's healthy.

I certainly have nothing against Malone, and I have high hopes for him, but what exactly has he done to earn a position as a starter? Just curious.

As of now he is the starter since Vons absence. If he is able to keep it that only means we have capable players at the position. Good for us

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Pearson "not start" game 1. But I doubt that means much more than him not being announced as a starter and sitting out the first 8-9 plays or one series or something.
