if he and Vladimir Richards did indeed put up the 600-700 pounds that was being reported on here earlier this month (or last month or some time this summer), and he laughed and said no, somewhere closer to 550.

He, Dan Williams, and Jonathan Crompton are all in a summer class I am taking at UT and I felt I had to ask that question.

So, whoever started that fallacious thread: Shame on you! :nono:

still, 550 is ridiculous. Didn't they have to stop some of the guys last year cause they were afraid of them hurting themselves?

For sure. That is why I couldn't help myself from asking him about the 600-700 numbers when I had the chance - because those numbers are world class.

Jacques is still an extremely large and in charge man. If he was angry or upset with me, I would be petrified, as he is extremely intimidating.

I think my professor is a fan too, because he wanted everyone to say their name and such to get to know the class and he said "lets start with Jacques," who seemed kind of surprised and asked how he knew his name, to which my teacher replied "I know lots of things."

I hate to say "I told you so:"

Not to play the skeptic. . . .but to play the skeptic:

What's the source on these numbers? Quite frankly, I don't believe them, and even if I did, I would question the point behind forcing muscles to such a dangerous threshold.

**************

Well. . . .the numbers seem ridiculously high. If the guys are really maxing 1 rep with weight in excess of 600 pounds, I sure hope that they are under quality supervision by the team docs. I'd be interested to hear the KOC guys' feelings on this.

For reference: McClendon's (supposed) lift would take over the 15th spot on the all time unassisted bench press list, right behind Vladimir Kravtsov of Russia, 2001. Vlad would also make the "600-club," which contains 43 names, worldwide, as far as I can tell.

Maybe we do have competitors for powerlifting world records on our football team, maybe we don't.
