So this is what we do the rest of the year?

I wanted something more though. I wanted a backdoor meeting among gentlemen, all with the best interest of the program at heart... followed by a dignified announcement of the end of a great career... followed by a smooth and quiet search.
Snitches aren't dignified and Fulmer's career hasn't been great. He's going to get exactly what his pious a$$ deserves.

The state of the program is going to require more healing the longer this goes on. Strap yourself in for a bumpy ride.

What I regret or, in deference to your parsing of my vocabulary, dread, is not that we appear near a chance to start anew.... But that the interim days between where we are and where we have a chance to end up, will likely get so... circus like.

Before there can be better, there will almost certainly be worse.

Good words.

Parse those, GS....

Otay, (I'm better in Urdu word do than Farsi parsi but here goes, my take on syntac analysis.)

When I think of "re" anything, such as resent, reattach, "re" anything I think of it as like do over, how may we do over any future that has not already been??

Is the future the future and the past the past??? Are now, now?

You seem to take offense.

Ok now, notwithstanding I once had a friend with a 75 year old one legged parrot with a huge hole in his beak from fighting with another male parrot for the favors of some young female and who was completely committed to being totally anti-social and would hide under furniture until an opportunity presented itself and he would then hop out and bite a bare toe to the bone and hop away back into hiding even though we whittled him many a popsickle stick peg leg, he would not wear them nor would he speak any word if it were not an Urdu curse word which was strictly against the law and might have resulted in our beheading if he had been caught red handed or in this case red legged. He also had another bad habit of grabbing the hems of burkas and lifting them up so that a forbidden ankle would be exposed. He was a real rascal to say the least and seemed to enjoy living dangerously more than most.

Now is this what you want me to parse?:

If not "multiple" then maybe "mutable" but hopefully not mutible myeloma which could be very costly.

If "mutable" then mutate yourself, I feel fine just the way I am.

Somebody has a fear of flying, but it ain't me babe, it ain't me.

They don't call me the "navigator" because I get lost hitch hiking through the universe, so the whole of what the both of you are saying is immaterial anyway, that's not where we've going, hope that doesn't offend you.

Or maybe that's where you're going but don't lokk for me when you get there.

I'd say the bottom line is that the elusive, ethereal answer for which you seek is somewhere between gyroscope and gyro falcon, or it could just be a simple dance step.

Speaking of circuses, what's your favorite act. Don't tell me you think they ought to be banned because they are cruel to animals?

Aha, a stupid assed Bama fan. The truth always outs in the end.

GS, you do entertain...

And I assure you, no offense taken.

Thanks, and 'no offense' seems to be the theme of the 2008 season so far.

My point about the "regret the future" has something to do with the UAB game, I went to visit a friend so as to watch the game and his 17 year old daughter and some of her friends were having a car wash to raise funds to donate to the family of a class mate who at the young age of 17 had suffered an aneurysm and died this previous summer. So you never know what is going to happen next, better to be grateful as best one can and not be constantly complaining and or always fearing the worst will happen.

Actually a "constant fear of impending doom" is a symptom of a deeper mental disorder that isn't all that uncommon these days.

No that's a true story, don't remember the parrot's name though and don't remember him ever passing gas either.

Do you work in a pet store??

And does virtual cornucopia make gud virtual cornucopia squeezins'?

Anyway, I'm downloading "peace stories" so maybe you can listen to it later. (from the Jonell Mosser 'Enough Rope' album)

just because someone else is trying to be Milton, jr., don't take it as freedom of expression length. I'm still monitoring you.

For the "What It's Worth" crowd, no good thing lasts forever and no bad thing lasts forever. I am a Fulmer fan and always will be, but I believe now that the program must change head coaches for all of the reasons that have been presented in this forum ad nauseum. I have no confidence that Coach Fulmer can right the ship and I have no doubt that Tennessee can be back on top within five (5) years or sooner. Up until Auburn, I really thought that this could be a special year. I was very wrong. I thought that Crompton was our quarterback now and for the future. I was very wrong. I am out of the prediction business now; however, I don't believe that we are talentless and I don't believe that we are in for 'Bama type years. I believe that out of the ashes of this year good things will come. Go Vols!

just being curious here, but is there some reason that you quoted my comment to VN's Mr. Michener?

By that you mean steer hard to the starboard??

The only way that happens is if the whiners get their way, if that happens it might turn out OK but highly unlikely.

Why burn this year already, we have seven more games to go even before the post season games.

......and you guys thought i was verbose.....:)

Are we to be blamed for the attention deficit disorders of others??

I look upon it as we being the cure not the problem.

How is it that so many make life decisions based on thirty second sound bites??

Would that be wise or or would it be otherwise?

As unwise as it is, it is. Everyone wants a quick and easy answer to anything and everything. "Think for me, I don't have time to do it myself".

I'm going to compare Fulmer to a famous rock star.....and let me preface this by saying I don't think he'd be the kind of person to actually snub an autograph this is just an analogy.

In 1993 Fulmer was an energetic coach with something to prove. He was the upstart that carried Sharpies around in his pocket telling everyone who he was and what he planned on doing. He wasn't that well known yet and just getting his name out there. But people liked his music early on because it was a different tune than the one they had been hearing the past few years beforehand.

By 1998 he was a solidified "rock star" that everyone talked about and knew who he was. After having song of the year, album of the year, and artist of the year he reached legendary status. He would still passingly sign the autographs but he no longer carried his own Sharpies or pictures of himself around.

By 2003 he was the rock star that had started griping about being hounded by the fans and didn't want to sign crap anymore. Now he wouldn't promise artist of the year (National title) anymore but he still "shot for" song of the year (SEC title). He was now a living legend and didn't need the hassle of the fan expectations. Instead of the upstart trying to make a name for himself he already had the name recognition and had been to the top of the mountain and was coming back down the other side.

Now, in 2008, he's came full circle. In 93 he was the new hotshot telling everyone who he was with his own pictures in hand and his own Sharpies trying to get his name out there. Now in 08 he's got his own Sharpies back out telling people what all he has done to be such a "rock star." Trying to get people to remember that he had some great songs in the past and that he was the "artist of the year" in 1998. Now, he's still having to sing those old songs because his new songs just don't cut it anymore.

Lets hope that instead of becoming a complete parody of himself this "rock star" will announce that this year is his farewell tour soon so his fans can send him out properly instead of wishing him to just go away and quit singing. We don't want your music to be remembered by the crappy stuff you have mostly sang for the past 5 years - we want to remember you for all of your hits from the mid to late 90s. We want to send you off well and give you that proper send off if only you will let us.

We don't want the record companies or music theater's calling for your head because you no longer can bring it or put the butts in the seats. I'm sure the record company would be willing to give you a good send off and the fans would pack the theater's and would give you a big round of applause after every performance for the remainder of the year if you said that this is your last go round.

We want to remember the rock star Fulmer that took us to greatness not this old, worn out Fulmer that is having difficulty just staying in tune anymore.

Have you noticed as the seat gets hotter and the pressure mounts that Phil sometimes talks like Ozzie? Time to go bro.

OWH thought it possible to pick up a turd by the clean end but he is still debating which end that might be!

To take the analogy further, you can't polish a turd, either. At this point it's a turd-fest... The teams a turd, the fans are turds, the coaches are turds... it will not be pretty. I feel for the individual players who have to live through this mess.
