...Follow who said what about when our coach walks the plank. How much it will cost to get him onto the plank. And debate who will captain the ship after Phillip has been keel hauled for a lifetime as a Tennessee man...

I don't know if I have the stomach to watch this play out.

I'm not blaming this circling sharks mentality on anyone specifically. I'm really not assigning blame at all, it seems to be how the process goes these days.

I wanted something more though. I wanted a backdoor meeting among gentlemen, all with the best interest of the program at heart... followed by a dignified announcement of the end of a great career... followed by a smooth and quiet search.

I wanted clean continuity. I'm not going to get it.

I'm sad for the ugliness that now seems inevitable.

Tough times. I look to the future hopefully, but I regret what is yet to come.

Apathy has set in. He has to beat his rivals and he's not doing it. Fans have lost interest and are growing weary of the comedy of errors that plague us every week.

Ironically, Fulmer is the man who can make this work the way it should, but he has to see that's what's best for the program himself.

I'm still hopeful that it plays out in a dignified way......of course I'm also still hopeful that we can win out......yeah I said it

And to think, I've always thought of myself as a realist

Its's the excitement and pride that you live for on the weekend......I just thought I would never feel like this. It just feels like the air has been let out of the balloon. :cray:

We were planning a big get together for the GA game and have been looking forward to the game for months. Now it looks like we will have only 6-8 people due to lack of interest.

I too have expressed hope for a graceful changing of the guard, but have little of that hope left. I felt pity for Coach Fulmer when I saw the vid of his press conference after Auburn. The man is taking a terrible toll in this, he needs to end the pain.

The atmosphere at the games is totally below normal, boos are common, the sharks are circling. Surely he sees this.

OWH....you are much more articulate than I.

When I was hinting at the need for leadership in "Guitar Shots" this is really what I was hoping for.

We are discontent and disorganized from the very top down right now. It is hard to imagine an outcome that doesn't lead to more strife than is actually necessary.

Too many heels are dug in right now.....

I think the smooth and quiet search may be in process as we speak. And perhaps they can still have a meeting where, if forced to, Phil can offer his resignation. And maybe they might even have everyone present a unified story of how sad they were when Phil decided to step down for the best of the program.

Could happen, right?

May be a little more likely than me going out with the one in your avatar.

I'm still holding out for a fairy tale ending. But everyone from the top down realizes very clearly that this is not Tennessee Football.

OWH thought it possible to pick up a turd by the clean end but he is still debating which end that might be!

I think we will see the ending you just described as soon as we loose another game. Right now Phil's ship is still floating (albeit barely). Another loss would put us out of the mix for a championship, thus sealing Phil's fate. I'm sure a silent search has already begun, but you can't make that public while his ship is still floating.

Were you around in the late 70's early 80's??? Same crap! with the exception of Jimmy Streeter!

Man I've watched it with the Tide for too many years.

I watched a lot of our fans shred Mike Shula, who has been an Alabama man all his life.

Was he a great coach? Absolutely not, but he came to the Capstone when not many would, and he led us through one of our most troubled eras.

Fulmer has done an incredible job at UT. Though, there is no doubting that his best days are behind him. I hope it ends well for all involved.

Not all mutinies are successful.

There might be a bigger shark lurking about.

Would you mean 'back room' instead of 'back door'? If it is the latter, would that meeting be held at the 'Huddle?'

I wanted clean continuity. I'm not going to get it.

You don't know that for sure.

I'm sad for the ugliness that now seems inevitable.

I'm sad for the ugliness that has already been displayed.

Tough times. I look to the future hopefully, but I regret what is yet to come.

No disrespect intended at all but it would seem to me that if you are regretting the future then you have your time travel vehicle in reverse. Actually that's from old French and means "to weep", perhaps you mean you dread our future??? A lot of that thinking nowadays is bleed over from a segment of the political spectrum that uses a tactic of spreading dissatisfaction about everything imaginable and advocating fear of every possible disaster down the road in order to gain political power. Alinskites would be the leading advocates of such inane, insane thinking.

I'm still hopeful that it plays out in a dignified way......of course I'm also still hopeful that we can win out......yeah I said it

I'm no friend of anyone who doesn't hope for us to win out.:salute:

The heels of Vol Nation had best mind their mouths in Big Orange Country, you might say they need to stay on their toes.

We are showing flashes of Tennessee football but we certainly haven't sustained that for the full sixty minutes in any game so far this season.:fool:

Maybe we will come together in Athens and keep it together the rest of the season. :superman:

Looking on the bright side OW.....Clawson would be the perfect coach to replace Allison at UT-Chattanooga. Its obvious BJ Coleman isnt in the plans in Knoxville so he can return to Chattanooga with Clawson.....wait he probably transfers to Duke and plays for Cut!

I'm with you. I don't look forward to the type of transitional turbulence that Florida and Alabama went through before getting back to calm air but I think that we will have mutiple seasons of gyrations.

What I regret or, in deference to your parsing of my vocabulary, dread, is not that we appear near a chance to start anew.... But that the interim days between where we are and where we have a chance to end up, will likely get so... circus like.

Before there can be better, there will almost certainly be worse.
