. . . but with all this talk about whether UM would want Butch, well their fans are already starting to blog about it. See the below link. Presents a pretty reasonable summary of the whys, why-nots, and probably won'ts.

Coaching Candidate: Butch Jones ~ He Follows Brian Kelly Everywhere; His Price is Fancy! | mgoblog

In any event, I repeat my call for the AD to award this coaching staff bonuses based on recruiting as well as wins, and seriously look at other bonus worthy factors like game attendance, game and label revenue, offensive / defensive statistical progress, etc. When a program has been as far down as our has, I really think you need to apply the "game of inches" mentality to evaluate progress until the "W"s start to amass.

Open to thoughts and rebuttals from my Volnation brothers and sisters.

I'd bet they try, but his heart truly seems to be with us. That being said, $$$$$ talks.

Yeah, because awarding a ~.500 coach with a big contract extension and buyout has worked so well for us in the past.

Butch isnt going anywhere. Butch has done a great job recruiting and has done a fantastic job of changing the culture of our football program, but he hasnt won anything yet to prove he is Michigan's guy. Think about it, Michigan took a risk on Rich Rod and Brady Choke, I doubt they take a risk on hiring a guy that hasnt won anything yet. They'll hire a proven winner in Harbaugh or somebody like that.

There is absolutely noway possible you can be confident in this. I dont think he goes anywhere, but its not outside the realm of possibility.

I really hope butch doesn't leave. He's said numerous times Tennessee is a dream job. He's also really embodied the "one Tennessee" theme and I don't think he leaves these kids high and dry for a chance at going to another school to rebuild..., especially after the monster recruiting classes he's had.
If he didn't have those classes and Tennessee looked like they'd still be in the sumpter for 3 more years I think he leaves, but again I think he sees the future is bright in Knoxville. #VFL #brickbybrick

Butch is a guy that is going to finish what he starts. Plus, why would he go to a program that is having the same problems that we had prior to hiring him? It would be a step backwards for him in his coaching career.

Its highly unlikely he goes anywhere else in the near future, but saying that "butch aint going nowhere" is being naive and pretty ignorant to the fact that coaches really dont have much loyalty to programs in this day and age.

here we go.

Liked your post — great response.

I honestly wasn't trying to "get everyone going." An office coworker is a UM grad and they told me about the chatter going on among their fans. So, I was just letting people know what types of conversations are occurring elsewhere around college football that are somewhat related to our program.

This fan base and program CAN NOT take another stab to the heart. I may die.

Be at ease CBJ is here for a long while. Shouldn't your avitar be a condom instead of a pill as I think it might be a genetic predispostion.

I don't see bUTch leaving U.T. but Kiffin was USC's 5th choice and after everyone else turned them down, he accepted the job. Same scenerio could present itself here. Harbaugh, Shaw, etc. etc. could all turn that job down and it fall in to bUTch's lap.

This is a long shot, but if Mrs. bUTch wants out of Knoxville, then that may be a factor.

I say 80% chance he stays here and once he wins his first National Championship, he definately won't leave U.T. He will likely retire here in 20 years after he wins his first National Championship.

SEC>Big 10

Jones has a much better shot at winning and winning big at Tennessee and he is getting the recruits to do it.

The Vols will stomp Florida this weekend.

Let's put something in perspective about Coach Jones.

He has worked tirelessly since the day he got here and has blown people away in recruiting, considering where our program was when he inherited it. Do you REALLY think he would bail before he starts dominating in the most highly-regarded premier Division I league in college football? You really think he would bail on all of that elite talent before they even enroll here?

No.

He's not the kind of guy that gets fired up and emotional in pressers saying things like "we are going to win a lot of games here". You're a fool if you think that everyone in the world besides Butch has heard about Michigan being interested in him. If he was interested in them, his words would have been different after the Georgia game.

So relax, VolNation. I swear this place is on the rag 24/7 considering the day-in day-out roller coaster emotional trips.

I'm so confident in Butch Jones that I think the only way he doesn't succeed here is if he leaves for Michigan. So for you to bring it up makes me upset.

Assuming Jones wins 6-8 games this season and follows up with another great recruiting class, UT will need to build a higher fence around him.

That said, Jones doesn't seem like a foolish guy. He has something going at UT that will pay off for him in $$$ and every other way. He has seen good coaches go into Michigan and fail.... like RichRod. He knows they have recruiting liabilities. He also knows he will get whatever he wants and needs at UT.

In short... I don't think Michigan can sway him.

If he succeeds and wins a bunch of games, the NFL is a bigger threat due to his personality.

He won't go to Michigan. They are a bigger dumpster fire than we were when he took over and I don't think he wants to rebuild another school. Not to mention they play in a pud conference.
