The Vols have to beat the team that they are scheduled to play. It doesn't matter who it is or what seed they are. They are in. Now all they have to do is win, not whine. Get over it all ready.

Here's what I don't understand. Why not have te worse 4 teams compete for the 16 seeds? Don't understand this crap. Why not just keep it simple?

The concept behind the "First Four" games is for the last 4 at-large teams and the last 4 auto bids to play. We fell into the former category, in the eyes of the committee.

It's technically the first round even though everyone still refers to it as play in games. They're in. And will eventually play Duke. Don't forget the high level of D they're playing right now. They actually have a better draw than i would have guessed.

People who say we aren't in simply dont understand how this works. Essentially everyone but the play-in teams have a first round bye. Which is why if we beat Iowa we will play our next game in the SECOND round .

I wonder if Mizzou or SMU would consider themselves in if they were in a play-in game.

It's like saying the teams who have to play on Wednesday aren't really in the SEC tournament, which they obviously are.

The confusing part for me is if we're good enough to be an 11 seed, meaning they obviously think we're better than 20 other teams, why do we have a play in game? I understand some of those 20 lesser seeds are conference tourney winners and have to be in even though they suck, but not that many surely.

Exactly

The next obvious step is going to be an extra round where the bottom seeds in each region have to "play in". Could be as many as 96 teams in the tournament.

Then why 11 seeds? Shouldn't it just be for the 16 seeds?
