I think it's time for a change. But it took me many years to say this. I remember when Fulmer took over and how happy I was. I remember being so happy in 98 with Fulmer. So, it will bother me when he is gone if it happens and it looks like it will. I hope he remains in the system in some form or another.

It will feel like taking a dump the morning after drinking all night and eating frozen pizza. That's RELIEF.

Thankful for his years of service. More optimistic about the Vols' future--especially if he leaves on good terms.

Same as I'll feel on November 5. Worried about the new guy being better or worse than what we already have.

I'll be extremely nervous as to the short-term success of the program, yet, I believe that the best thing that could happen for the long-term success of the program is for CPF to announce his intentions to resign, immediately.

I'll have a feeling of relief, a hopeful outlook on the future, and a hesitant expectation that we will actually improve.

I'll be very happy when Fulmer retires/resigns/is sacked. He's a good Volunteer, but he's not been a good football coach for a long time. He's coached for 18 years--far longer than he should have, IMO, made tens of millions of dollars, so I don't feel sorry for him at all--especially because he's been driving the program into the ground. And he has no shame about it--but instead has been tossing out lame excuses for several years.

The reasons why I respect Fulmer are obvious. None of the great coaches want to leave the programs they have built. Fulmer has handled the last 5 years with alot of class. He never went on the defensive until it was apparent. On the hotest hotseats he never appeared arrogant when defending his accomplishments; or used them to establish his "worth."

We wouldn't have traded Fulmer for the world before 2000 nor would he have left for anywhere. His run was long enough that he built some limited equity. I think everyone would have loved to see Fulmer make a run in 2003 or 2004; before crap hit the fan. He won the first National Championship 7 years on the job. And couldn't win an SECC in 10 years. Its understandable that his equity is depleted.

When its done, I hope people layoff Fulmer's shortcomings. There is a place for Fulmer at UT as a living legend. Bama and Auburn are extremely fortunate to have class acts like Stallings and Dye around today. There is no reason why Phil can't assume a similar role as the Ambassador of Football. Because J Majors is a bitter old man, we haven't had on of these since John Ward. I'm sure the drama will be thick, but I really hope it don't turn out like JM.

It'll be a mixture of melancholy at seeing a true legend leave, relief at knowing we can move in a new direction, and anxiety at what the future holds.

relieved/excited/curious

relieved he's gone... excited about the possibility of better days ahead... curious about who will be the next coach

As glad as I would be to see a new (and needed) change of direction, it is a bit sad to see someone who has dedicated their career to this University pushed out the door. The one thing you can say about CPF is that he is an honorable individual (that is why he has been a good recruiter). With that being said....it is time for a change! Excitement b/c of the potential replacements......trepidation b/c of the potential replacements. I hope the powers-to-be pull the trigger on something (or someone) good.

To be honest, I'm not sure how I would feel. I don't like where the team currently is. But I'm also concerned about an uncertain future.

1. Fulmer didn't "build" Tennessee's program.
2. If Fulmer isn't arrogant, Bill Clinton isn't vain.
