So....how are we feeling about Georgia?

I think if we can score 30 on them, their offense can’t catch up. UGAs offense is fairly weak this year for a #1 ranked team and has never been pushed to score because of their defense. The problem is their defense can turn this game into a blowout with our fast offense and a few turnovers.

Realistically, I don’t know if we can score that much. UGA could roll but it’s a great opportunity with little expectation for us.

48-17 UGA. We’ll have to be as efficient or more than we were versus Kensucky, which is highly unlikely versus this D. We’ll get some points, maybe even late after the game is already put away, but they’ll thump us pretty sound. We just don’t have it on the D to keep it respectable against these guys. I think it’ll be a letdown game after KY too.

If we want to win, we need more than 8 mins of possession against Georgia. Need to give the defense some breaks.
We will need auto score at least 35 points to win Their defense is much more scary than their offenses, but we need to score points.

I dont like the matchup. Their DL against our OL. Hooker is to valuable to the rest of our season. I don't think staying in the pocket is a real option. Roll outs and misdirection. Or run straight at them. Their secondary is suspect if we can get time. Thats really about it. UGA is just on another level. Keep it respectable and come out healthy.
Yeah, and watch out for the cheap shots against our qb.

The fan in me says "lets go score fiddy!!!!

The realist in me says "let's just not get anybody hurt.

Doing a semi-deep dive into UGA's games so far, it is unreal looking at their Defensive stats. I realize that the offenses they have played have proven to be less than dynamic, but that doesn't lessen the results.

They have only allowed ONE first half TD. They have only given up 6 TD's in 9 games....2 of those coming with 4 seconds remaining (UK) and 2:49 remaining (UF) in the game. Kentucky was burning timeouts at the end trying to punch theirs in. They have given up 19 first half points through 9 games. I don't care if they had played Vandy 9 times, that is impressive.

The main question will be if we can give Hooker ANY time to throw the ball. Their secondary is their "weaker" spot on their D if they have a weaker spot. It should be a fun atmosphere. I hope the fans rock it out. I just have 2016 Bama flashbacks with this game. We had all the hype in the world coming home to play those guys and we got smacked around. I hope we have success and can score some points on these guys that nobody else has been able to do.

For us to have a chance we have to play hyper aggressive in every phase of the game and try to create points from the D or special teams. Whatever tricks Heupel might have up his sleeve are going to come out this weekend. We may get beat, but we’re going to go down swinging, and I expect we’re going to do something early to try and get the crowd even more amped than it already will. If we can get this thing into the late 3rd or early 4th quarter we gotta hope that game pressure will come into play.

we will score on them and I think Banks will adjust and the defense will be much better. they don't have a Wan'Dale Robinson. I think we can win by 10+ at home
You're right dude, we don't have a "Wan'Dale Robinson" .. and? We have a Jermaine Burton, a Brock Bowers, a Darnell Washington, an Adonai Mitchell, a Kearis Jackson, a Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, an Arian Smith and a Ladd McConkey .. pay attention to the games outside of UT

Imo Tennessee's best shot would be going with MSU's game plan from last year. Using the short passing game to sustain long drives that bleed the clock. Shortening a game is the best way to neutralize a talent disadvantage. Shorter games are more volatile and allow a pick 6 or special teams touchdown to change the game. The longer a game goes the more the game will skew in favor of the more talented team. Its how USC beat UGA in 19, MSU kept it close in 20, and how Kansas kept it close with OU this year. Of course you have to take some shots to keep the defense from sitting on the underneath stuff, but if you watch the MSU/UGA '20 game it was essentially a heavy dose of 5 yard receptions that kept UGA's offense off the field and the clock moving.

I agree with what you’re saying about the talent disparity and keeping the ball. I just don’t know that that is in this team’s DNA. The thing we do well is score points quickly and I think the philosophy is that the incredible speed in which we run the offense is the reason why. Our advantage (if there is one ) Saturday is that we’re going to give UGA something they haven’t seen this year. What you’re saying could happen, but I think we want you guys to play our style and not vice versa.

The UGA WRs dont worry me. The TEs do.

It is amazing that our fans are afraid of every team on our schedule. Upsets happen everyday. Why not the Vols. I am glad the players are not "realist "like the fans.....they wouldn't even show up.

I agree Tennessee should do that if its working. Obviously a quick score is better than a long drive with no points. The downside of tempo is it could make the game snowball early if its not working. I also think scheme has helped UT score just as much as tempo has.

I think it'll be 17-7 at the half and then 45-10 at the final whistle. I don't see our Offense moving the ball well against them. We might get a couple of fluky plays against them, but we'll once again lose the TOP battle. And I think our D will struggle to stop them, especially in the 2nd Half.

We stole a W from Kentucky, who inarguably outplayed us the entire game. UGA is basically just a better-on-all-counts UK. If UGA runs and executes UK's gameplan, it'll be one of the most tortuous games to watch.

It'll be a lot of 6-7' minute drives resulting in a UGA TD followed by a quick :30 3-and-out by us come the 2nd Half. Just my assessment, hope I'm wrong.

I think a big key for this game is can you create some balance in the offense. Now if you are thinking about balance, do you even play Tyion Evans if he is healthy. Do you save Evans to help close out the remaining games? Lots to ponder.

Honestly, I would like for us to occasionally slow it down. We played 99 defensive snaps against UK. That’s absurd. There’s a lot that went into that, partly being that we scored 2 times in 37 seconds in the first quarter. The other part of that is that our defense was atrocious Saturday night . That’s the worst our D has played all season. UK and those big backs were able to pound on us and setup play action. I’m liking what I saw on the tape if I’m UGA.

I see their offense struggle agaisnt our defense more than our offense agaisnt their defense. they haven't seen anything close to us. I think Banks will have the defense ready after a sunseri like performance

I'm really not feeling too good about the Georgia game. Maybe it is because I am suffering from Battered Vol Syndrome (BVS).
My symptoms are so bad that I have already packed French's Mustard and some golf balls in my home emergency supply kit.

UGA - 34, UF - 7. UF- 38- UT - 14.
UGA - 30, UK -13, UT- 45, UK - 42.

I could argue that in scheme and effectiveness Arkansas and UT almost mirror each other, ark doesn’t use as much pace and uses the run a little more to set up the pass, but the scheme is very similar and the production on the season appears to be similar. In fact Arkansas has gained 3 less yards than UT all season. And score 5.5 less PPG but have already played Georgia.

Interesting .. didn't realize Arky had done that much on offense overall. KJ is a pretty solid QB with a huge arm but he needs an ability to reel it in.

Do you?

2021 College Football Team Talent Composite

I am pretty sure you have referred to this many times as you have stated on here that UT has more talent than all but three teams on your schedule. The problem with that statement as it relates to this metric is this is counting kids who were 4 and 5 stars in HS regardless of whether they are living up to it in college. The problem with that is that number is STILL giving credit for guys like Bailey, Milton and Solomon for UT .. two 4 stars and a 5 star not playing
