So have we settled on the starting OL now?

I was talking to a friend today and we were discussing the OL play for the UF game. While we both agreed that the second half was much better than the first, I wondered if this game finally cemented a starting group going forward.

What do you guys think? Did the OL play in the UF game warrant the permanent starting lineup going forward? Or do you think Butch will still be open to competition?

Competition is always better than permanent starters. Don't want players getting too comfortable.

That being said, the unit that was in there the 2nd half appears to be out-competing everyone else at the moment.

If I'm not mistaken they only allowed 2 sacks against the team that was leading the SEC in sacks so far this season. They weren't perfect, but looking to gel a lot better than 1st 3 games.

With the way we have had guys go down to injury? You might as well consider the competition open at all positions.

But to the OL, it might be taking form. However, I feel there are plenty of opportunities for someone to step forward and get reps. I know some have lost confidence on Robertson and Thomas, but they could be nursing nagging injuries. Whatever is holding them back right now, I hope they get it fixed. Same for Richmond. He needs to live up to his billing.

In regards to Richmond, maybe it would be best to have him and Chance at a rotation at right tackle (depending on his play) since that was his position in high school. It just seems like he's a liability out there at LT. Let him be a backup at RT and LT this season, then in the off season prepare for an all out battle for the tackle positions between Hall, Kendrick, Richmond, Tatum, Niehaus, Bwood Johnson and most likely Trey Smith. Thank the lord our QB will be protected next season.

They may already do it, but i'd have these guys hanging out together as much as humanly possible. I think it's important that these guys genuinely like one another, important to position integrity. Teamwork as a unit as opposed to 5 individuals is so important for o linemen more than any other position. I hope they have the attitude they push Coleman Thomas to excell rather than let him stay on the outside looking in because he's slower on the uptake or less physically developed.

Hurd is having to fight for every yard after getting the ball. Just no big holes this entire year that I've seen. We can't run east to west on good, athletic defenses. Got to pound it up the middle.

It is nice to have depth. Those five that we had out there did a great job. Need to let Thomas get healthy and then see what happens. Richmond needs to keep working hard to be prepared when the opportunity presents itself. Boulware jumped in there at left guard against Florida and appeared to do ok....if only for a handful of plays.

They are improving but still alot of work for the OL left to do. Dobbs was hit on every pass play except 3 or 4 of them whether he completed them or not. Dobbs made the second half happen not the Oline. He's getting hit from his blindside and it needs fixed immediately.

I don't care who starts, we just need some holes to open up so the RBs can hit at full speed... haven't seen anyone be able to hit the line full speed and get to the second level yet this season...

We just played the best D we will face all year and had our way with them. We will only get better. Hurd needs less carries, I'd keep him around 20.

The gators by all accounts were a bunch of frauds. A testament to the teams they played.

aTm D is on the rise. Chief has got them playing very well and starting to gel as a unit

Alabama is Alabama. They'll always be tough. They'll always be loaded with talent. I assure you they aren't over looking Tennessee now after last season and especially the way we are playing this season.

This appears to be the best 5 now. Once Thomas is healthy, he will be hard to keep out of the starting 5.

Coleman Thomas has a ton of heart but I am not sure that the other players haven't passed him by in terms of talent and experience. I could be wrong but he has looked dreadful and gets pushed around a lot. Maybe it is his ankles but Hall looked much better than him and he wasn't 100% either, very few players are after 4 games.
