So Glad Muschamp Turned Down TN

of course they did stuff before tebow. But only for about 15 years....tennessee has always been good and florida was a nobody before spurrier took over. That's a fact

This sort of silliness always makes me laugh. you do realize for the kids who are being recruited right now, that Florida has ALWAYS been good. They base thier history not on what you base it on.

Since these kids this year in the 2011 class have been born in 1992. Florida has won 7 SEC titles, 2 heisman trophies, and played for 4 national titles, winning 3 of them.

If I am supposed to be embarassed because none of that happened before 1990, then sign me up. I'll be embarassed and wear a sign on the street corner.

I would love to know of a recruit who picks their school in 2011 because of what that school did 40 or 50 years ago.

also, florida will continue to deteriorate because other schools such as miami and florida state are starting to take recruits back and schools like south florida, central florida, and even florida atlantic and florida international are getting better every year.
That sure hurt our program in the 90's when both were good, right?

Come on bro..........you are smarter than this.

We will do the talking in September, in the meantime go find a Gators message borad to talk about the Tebow-Meyer love affair. Because if you havent figured this out...this is a Tennessee Vols forum.

Don't be mad because I brought the thunder to you with fire and brimstone. We all get along here bro and the people on here have been friendly to me.

Go Celtics.

that's funny because SI, ESPN and Yahoo sports(rivals) gave the hire an overall average of a B+...his speach was the same as Jimbo's last year...both sound like Saban.

Aaaaand that's the only thing they and Saban have in common.

Kinda glad we turned him down too. My buddy Brian plays for the gators, and he says that Will is never around that much. Other than practice he never hangs around the complex. TIFWIW

practice?

and your friend does realize the coach is probably doing a little recruiting right now right?

Here we go again....You guys can have your tradition/history and I'll take the last twenty years. Hope that makes you feel better. You can honestly say you would rather have tradition from 50 years ago over recent success. I love it when a rival uses this arguement...because that is the only thing they have left (see Georgia). Speaking of recent success, how many NC and SEC titles has UT won since 1960. Just curious.

I tend to agree with you....I'm tired of getting our ass kicked by a school with "no tradition". Excuses/explanations are getting old.

I'm not sold on Muschamp though.

I'm not either Lex. There are only so many Saban's, Meyer's and Kelly's out there. I think Gator Nation is going to give WM a pass this year, but the gloves will come off in 2012 if he isn't contending for the SEC East.

One UF fan that frequents this board, Lawgator1, has already declared finishing 2nd the in the east next season a failure.

Get ready for a lot of idiots in your fanbase getting really loud as Muschamp goes through the motions his first year.

Well the East should be up for grabs but I don't believe Brantley will ever regain his confidence and that would mean we have to rely on Reed or true freshman Driskell. I just don't see it happening. It's a toss up between UG and SCe with UF and UT in the next group the way I see it.

I know the speed and talent is there, but implementing an entirely new offense will present personnel issues that are nearly impossible to address in one recruiting class.

i don't mind the history thing. it's a legit statement to make about florida's past.

what's laughable to me is that it is often accompanied by the following sentiment......

"we have a history of being great and will be great again. florida stunk until the last 20 years and it's only a matter of time before florida is back to being bad". "soon, tennessee will resume their rightful place"

i've seen this a lot recently when joined with the thought process that florida state and miami are going to reduce florida back to irrelevance. as if we don't have recent proof of them all being good at the same time.

it doesn't work that way. times change. the circumstances that existed in (pick a year) that were responsible for florida not being good do not exist in 2011. florida will field a good football team for the forseeable future.

the other part of that "history" sentiment that strikes me as odd is that tennessee has not been "THE" program in the SEC for several decades.
