During the first two drives with Ainge was when the offense moved the best.

No worse than Rick. They both threw a TD. I thought the offense moved more easily downfield with Ainge in. Rick insists on throwin to the backs and never looks downfield.

Excuse me but if your going to throw out crap you can at least try and know what you are talking about.
#1. Clausen goes thru is progressions twice as fast as Ainge
#2. If his recievers are covered he knows to dump off and get positive yardage. Ainge still tries and forces the ball and UT either gets no yardage, Incomplete or and INT, sometimes he gets the ball in their.
#3. Clausen had the same plays called for him that Ainge did and when the receiver was covered he dumped it off.
Those are facts live with it
#4. One of the things Ainge needs to learn in order to be a starter again is to Dump the ball off when the receivers downfield are covered.
#5. Ainge has to get better at the mental side of the game if he wants to start.
As for the argument he got screwed up when removed from the game. BULL, Ainge knew what was going to happen. It's not like it was a new thing, it happen all last year. If it bothered him that much he shouldn't be starting at all. Clausen was taken out twice for Ainge to come back. Wow it really affected Clausen HUH?
As for UT needs to throw deep, BULL
UT is not now and never has been a team that constantly throws 60 and 70 yard passes and I have followed them for almost 40 years. When UT is at its best including the Manning years they throw the ball 15 to 25 yards and the receiver has done the rest. If UT has to throw the ball 60 and 70 yards they are getting beat! Peyton Manning to Joey Kent vs Alabama for a 70+ yard TD to start the game was an 18 yard pass that went the distance and loosened up the defense. What about the pass at UF from Clausen to Banks 50 yard air it out at the Half which is one of the longest in air passes UT throws.
Production over Potential
As for the game it was a typical UT opener and a normal opener for a Fulmer team.

To answer the original question(before this turned into another %*%@* QB thread), yes we won it just wasn't the blowout everyone expected (well most everyone)

Right again. UAB looked like a pretty solid team to me. Also to me, it was clear Tennessee was the all around SUPERIOR team. Without all the bad breaks and silly mistakes which seem to come in bunches, the Vols win by 35 over a pretty good team.
