I don't think a Gruden hire was ever realistic and he was only selling his product. I also believe he wasn't up to the challenge of this mess and I really wouldn't blame him. If the man was really all about Rocky Top he should have squashed the Grumors long ago.

Honestly I had a high opinion about Gruden before this debacle. This is the last straw for me. Gruden can go jump in the creek!!!! ( nice language because this is a family forum)

To all of my volnation brothers that love this program and have paid money, sweat, and tears wanting it to succeed please take this last Gruden deal to heart and tell anyone that has " sources " to go jump in the creek the next time we are looking for a coach.

I was 100% Gruden, but it's never going to happen. Let's move on from this guy who OBVIOUSLY doesn't give two craps about our fanbase, and let's get behind our new coach, and let's have fun winning championships.

Gruden knew the program he supposedly cared about was on life support and desperately needed his help. He turned his back on us. Maybe he has been out of coaching so long that he lost confidence and was afraid to fail and let all of us down. I get that, but he should have told us long ago and not strung us along. I am sure the narrative will be like 2012 when he really wanted to come but we messed it up. If he really wanted to help us he would have agreed to be our coach. He didn't, so time to move on.

I think our fanbase made a lot out of nothing. And I'll admit I got sucked into it again, but he's dead to me for not addressing it or ending it a lot sooner. I'm liable to b!tc# slap any kid that dresses as Chucky for Halloween too. (jk would not harm innocent children)

A close and very reliable source just told me Gruden to be named OC. He just didn't want the pressure of being HC.

Not in my book!

Gruden acts like he loves UT--he doesn't have to do that.

He mentions us on MNF often--including this past Monday--exposure is a good thing!

He sometimes wears UT gear and shows up to games--I know his kid goes to UT, but, still...

It's kind of like Charlie Ergan putting us in his commercials--again, exposure is a good thing.

He probably told UT people right off he wasn't coming, and they asked him to keep it quiet.

Give the man a break. He obviously has a fondness for UT. That's a good thing.

Have never gotten the Gruden Love


Yes he was a GA at UT
Yes his wife attended UT


He is a mediocre coach who got lucky with 1 team a won with another coaches players.


He is a very, very good talent evaluator


But he has no interest in coaching at UT. He might coach again in the NFL but he's sitting in a booth and still making over $12 million a year. I wouldn't be coaching either.

Yes

He would have been a huge splash hire but there’s no guarantee he would have coached us any better than who we have. You just don’t know with him being in the booth for so long
