The experience or actions of other fired coaches, would be anecdotal at best, and still would lend no weight to the baseless claim that Butch saw interest from Div I schools and turned the positions down in order to take a "low-stress" analyst job at Alabama.

Don't confuse a class coach like Nick Saban with a sneaky tattle tale like Fulmer. I imagine Saban has much more important things to do other than worry about the Vols. Maybe in a couple of years, but not now!

Doesn’t this save us some bucks? I hope Saban pays him an equal amount to what we owe him, or don’t, if he is coaching. If you think he was crap at UT, he should be crap in Tuscaloosa so let him go.

Salary as a Bama analyst would be chump change relatively speaking. Don't get it why some are so fixated on what his buyout is costing UT. Ya think we might have been better off keeping him so ticket prices don't rise?

Very true in deed, well stated. As jumbled as my post originally, My point was that I and I assume, most of fan base have witnessed since the beginning of 2000, we have endured seeing our football team fall off in ways that most (not all), other teams haven’t faced. I miss the old days of seeing our proud program have great years, then good days back to great. We weren’t the program that national media made fun of, and it’s frustrating year after year after YEAR that we say to ourselves this will be the one we start seeing a difference. Never mind the young men that put their trust in the coach of the moment but the University we all love, so yes I get frustrated as I think a lot do, tired of the non orange blood in the program (different subject for a different time).

This is a good move for Butch and will serve him well if he takes the position. This job would provide him an opportunity to take a breath, reflect on what went wrong here, observe under Saban, and develop upon his weaknesses.

People here may be too bitter to admit it, but there was alot Butch was good at as a coach. Unfortunately his in-game decisions, stubborness, and lack of player development did him in. Yet, he was good as a recruiter, motivator, manager, among other things. If he can find a way to tweak himself, he could pivot himself like many other Alabama coaches have.

Butch will be a new man after Saban works with him. He may come back and take Pruitt's job. Hell, he may go take Kirby's. Champions of Life man.... It has to lead to greater things. He may solve Hickman Counties' water issues, or heal the afflicted.

There is zero upside to hiring Butch but I support Saban 100% if he wants to go that route.

We are all just faceless posters on here on different threads at any given time that care about our university sports, but sometime real time creeps in, I’m asking all on here to pray for a special family that lost a dad and husband tonight he was my best friend and depression got the best of him.

Saban hires him to get his advice, and then saban will do the exact opposite. “Lyle says we should start player A over Player B, so player B will now be the starter and player A will be advised to transfer”

I think they are hiring Butch, so Saban can run his press conference comments past him. And if Butch likes them, he knows to change them.

I think it would be interesting for Butch to be rehabbed and get another HC job and get his team to a bowl facing Lane Kiffin's team. That would be fun.
