So, Bobby Denton...

The only thing I can't stand is when he says the "Voz" and "Lady Voz" instead of "Vols" and "Lady Vols".

I believe Bobby will be back, haven't heard otherwise. He hasn't done the Orange and White game for several years.

If he elects not to return, it will be Jeff Jarnigan, who does men's basketball (outside of the awful intros), and is program director of B97.5 in Knoxville, who also does the spring game.

Thanks DP.

And please! Pay no more! ..... Classic

Hearing Bobby Denton say that phrase is one of my earliest memories of Tennessee football. That was back in the day when I would turn around backwards in my seat and play with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that I brought from home. True story!

Don't take it to the bank, he made a decision last year only a few weeks before the opener, so I don't think anything is final, but I expect him to be there for Georgia State.

Should we expect any game day changes?

Depends on if some construction projects get cleaned up like they're supposed to.

You may not see the band at all 7 halftimes. Don't know if that is final, but I know it has been discussed.

Why is that? I thought the band numbers were up this year. Budget issues?

The "Fan Satisfaction Survey" UT did last year indicated a percentage of fans would prefer alternate halftime entertainment, so they're considering it for a game or two. We'll see.

Wow!

I know they had a couple of lame shows but having the band not play at halftime just doesn't seem right.

I agree. It doesn't seem right . . . but after that Wizard of Oz halftime show, they're lucky the fans didn't riot and demand that the Band program be disbanded. That was a special kind of awful.

I don't think people really had an issue w/ the band being out there...just some of the shows had gotten awful as GA said.

They simply didn't look like they were having fun...like a college band should.

Like several people said, they just don't seem to be having fun - or be allowed to have fun. If you listen to the band in the background of these classic games they're replaying this summer from 95, 98, 01, 04, etc. they're playing songs at a slower tempo now. They've eliminated some of the interactive songs/chants.

Most of all, the band has become a problem to deal with for the administration. They were cut down to two full band overnight road trips a season, but still were funded to take the full band on one-day trips to places within 3-4 hours like Vandy, UK and Georgia. In protest, they started taking only a pep band. They refused to bus a pep band to Arkansas last season after Hart didn't want to spend the money for a second charter plane to take them and the cheerleaders when our fans had only bough 1,500 tickets.

The Ohio game a couple years ago was a microcosm the POTSMB the last several years. Ohio's band ran out, played newer music, did some goofy dance moves...and genuinely looked like they enjoyed themselves.

The Pride came out, and marched some stiff classical music show (iirc) and looked as if they feared being plugged by a sniper should they step out of line. Not to mention their in game stuff like DP12 mentioned.

I really hope they get the bug out of whoever's a$$ is running things.

You really think that a survey could stop The Pride of the Southland band from performing at halftime? I'm appalled to even think that some fans would believe that a stupid survey could stop 140 years of tradition.

There is no truth to this. The band will play at halftime for every game this season.
