So as we go to bed, let us summarize

Very well summarized. I'm tempted to just say screw it, and hire Kippy Brown as HC. I like his attitude.

Why not??? Cause some recruits who only wanted to attend our school because some punk ass coach was mentioned in a rap song and got a bunch of violations and is living off his Daddy's reputation will leave. Fact of the matter is we need the loyalty that Kippy is showing at UT. CPF isnt the answer, but look at how long his tenure was, because he loved Tennessee. As much as I want us to keep our recruits and build into a winner, If you don't love it...leave it...See you in USC while you're tool coach applies for the KC Chiefs job in 2 years

Naw, my posts have all been regarding what I've heard about Chaney maybe coming to Arkansas and us being excited about the possibility.

I haven't put Brown on the list because I assume that if he gets the job then Mike Hamilton's career at UT is over. No way he survives that. Nothing against Kippy, but that will seem like an abject failure. At this point I assume Hamilton would do anything to get anybody else even remotely credible in order to save his own arse.

Have a good night Vols, hopefully yall figure out something soon, kids lives are kinda hanging in the balance at the moment. Coaching searches are frustrating, kinda sucks you guys have to do it twice in a year.

this whole kippy brown as hc thing seems very familiar to bill stewart at wvu minus the kippy brown winning any big game, let alone a game. Our coach seems to be coming from texas(/oklahoma but thats wishful thinking).

I can't agree with you on this. I can absolutely understand the inhibition/reluctance, but I'm not counting him out yet.

I like him. A lot. I think that if he could keep most of the leftover staff and flesh it out a little bit, we might be in business. But I just don't think that there's any way that if Mike Hamilton goes into this enormously pressure-packed job search, and scours the country with all the resources of the pissed-off UTAD brought to bear, and comes out of it with.......an assistant coach that Kiffin hired a month ago, that his tenure as AD is pretty much over. It's not that Hamilton can't screw this up, it's that he can't really afford to have it be even thought that he might have screwed this up. He desperately needs something that he can even semi-reasonably call a big hire, and Kippy Brown just isn't it.

Agree...this has nothing to do with Kippy, Hamilton will just look like he couldn't get anyone else.

Referring to the Doomsday thread...if Houston Nutt comes to town to coach I will gladly, I am talking with as much excitement I can muster, denounce all loyalty to the Vols. I will support all the athletes here, as they are forced to deal with this mess. Once that has played out I will despise Mike Hamilton and the UT Athletic Department. I am typically not this fired up against someone, but I lost every single ounce of respect (granted not much to begin with) for him after the Malzahn/Mustain incident(s).

His actions showed he is no different than Fulmer from a control standpoint, and he hired Malzahn just to get Mustain to commit.

Something to chew on for tomorrow. I'm not a Vol fan and you can take it or leave it all you like...

Word here in Houston is that Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin is flying to Knoxville later this morning for an interview. No telling if a deal is imminent but I'm told to expect some very bad news as a Houston fan.

Word comes to me from someone that works in UH's athletic department. He's never been wrong in this sort of stuff. Sounds unbelievable, 2 years in CUSA straight to Tennessee, but I wouldn't have even bothered registering and posting if I didn't feel it was 100% solid and I thought you guys might like to not be surprised.

Also f--k Lane Kiffin.

Thanks. Your alright in my book just for the last phrase you said. I thought your qb announced he was coming back earlier today?

I think it depends on how offended the real money guys are. It was a stretch to step outside there comfort zone and fire Fulmer, let alone hire a guy like Kiffin. Hiring Kippy Brown may not be such a bad decision in their eyes...

I am seriously trying to put a summary of where we stand right now together. There's too much to keep track of. I welcome any other suggestions for oh, until I finish this beer, at which point I will go to bed. Somebody needs to do one of these every 12 hours until we have a coach, just to sort of try to corral the madness.

This is like trying to choose a new pope. There should be a Volnation browser plugin that shoots black smoke out of everybody's USB ports every hour until we have a new coach, at which point it would shoot out white smoke and start playing "Rocky Top."

:eek:lol::eek:lol:
It's still black smoke on the hour this AM.

So you want the Houston coach, makes no sense AF beat Houston twice with less talent Houston has, try again.

1. Muschamp is out.

2. But wait, maybe Muschamp is still in! We don't know yet.

3. Actually, screw all that, Muschamp has taken the job!!! THE INK IS DRY ON THE CONTRACT!!!! (Special note to ORANGEKUSH and ROBVOLS, who will go in the ignore file if he's not the coach. The only reason I put people on ignore is asserting false rumors as fact.)

4. Gary Patterson is out. Except that his press release is just coachspeak, with the standard "I have not been contacted stuff," so maybe he's not really out. Nobody is really out as long as he has a pulse.

5. Troy Calhoun is the next guy up? Seriously? The players will all leave if Calhoun is the guy. But wait, they probably don't know that Calhoun was an OC in the NFL, and is only running the option at Air Force because his players suck.

6. Stoops would be willing to talk about the job. Maybe. (Which doesn't explain why Hamilton hasn't been in Norman all day waving suitcases of money around.)

7. New Volnation member ARTACO04 who joined today and has seven whole posts says that Houston Nutt is our next coach, don't be surprised y'all, with absolutely nothing to back him up other than his nonexistent reputation. Seems as believable as half the crap posted on here about Will Muschamp tonight.

8. Cutcliffe's name keeps being mentioned by all the media types, but there are no actual corresponding real rumors about him.

9. There are, however, rumors that Fulmer is engineering some sort of sinister backdoor coup to oust Hamilton and install himself back in some capacity. Which would throw every bit of everything into flux.

10. Lane Kiffin gave a press conference out in LA and was basically considered to be a douchebag by everybody there.

Did I miss anything?

Trying to push up the summary so Freak can change out the server which may require shutting the site down for a few hours.

After all these posts, today's only update appears to be item 5. Troy Calhoun is now out.

All else appears current.

Anything else new, known, and noteworthy enough to make the list?
