So are we in or not??????

It's a pretty simple question. Do you consider them "in" or not?

I think the best way to determine it is to ask this question...if the vols lose the play-in game, will they officially go down as having been an 11 seed team in the 2014 ncaa tournament? If no, then I wouldn't consider us having been "in".

If we win, Martin gets credit for an NCAAT win.

Is there an "11" by our name in the bracket? If so, then I would consider us in.

Ask VCU if they were in or not when they went to the Final Four? This is so dumb.

well of course if you win you're in...that's why they're known as play-in games. What about the loser though? Does CCM still get a bonus for making the tourney if we lost the play-in? Do we go down as having been an 11 seed even though we didn't make it to the "real" tourney?

Edit: just looked it up...CCM will get a 50k bonus for "making it into ncaa tourney'"

From the same article: "If UT wins Wednesday, the Vols will advance to the tournament’s second round, and become the No. 11 seed in the Midwest region and play No. 6 seed Massachusetts (24-8) in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday."

That's what I was saying about the seeding...it doesn't appear that we're technically an 11 seed unless we win the game. Therefore, the loser is technically NOT an 11 seed, right?

Does he get credit for an NCAA win if they win? The answer is yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

NCAA refers to them as First Four, not play in games.

Ok, I gotcha. I just think they need to do away with the play-in games. Glad to be "in" though.

They originally had one because a conference was added, this adding an automatic qualifier. They wanted to keep same number of at large spots. Then, they expanded just 3 spots. Since, another conference has been formed. So, there are only 2 more at large spots than the original 64 team field.

It's the field of 68. We are in.

Although I agree that it "feels like" we aren't really in, having to play before the tournament really starts.

I'm sure Cuonzo's $50K bonus makes him feel in like flynn. No misgivings about it in his mind for sure
