So....are the zebras going to call a fair game this year or what???

Picture says it all. If you all remember last year as well as I do, I have never EVER in my life seen such blatant holding go on all game long without being called. Countless times we had defenders that would've eaten their QB's lunch if not for the hold. Did it alter the outcome of the game? God only knows, but it definitely, in my memory, helped OU on some key downs on scoring drives. My question is, on our home turf, do you think we'll get a fair game called? Do you think the team is talking about this as well?

I was talking to a friend this weekend and I don't even know what holding is anymore. It's so vague and even Rocky Goode doesn't explain it that well or explain why it isn't called. That pic is clearly holding to me

Don't overthink this... There is no answer to this question as know one knows how it is going to play out. I don't buy into conspiracy theories.

Probably not. UT was getting held like that during several big plays in the BG game last week as well. I don't think I've ever witnessed a team continually get held in games and not get the call more than UT over the past 2 years to the point that I wonder if the refs are betting on the point spread.

UT got hosed by the refs the whole game last year---they need to give a lot of make up calls this week!

There's holding on every play, it's just if the refs decide to call it or not.

That's been a famous saying in football for god knows how long, and it still holds true today.

I think that is part of the problem with our OL, they haven't been taught how to hold.

Just to be fair, you could take a still camera and get holding, on both sides, on nearly every play. It's all about what they can get away with. Both teams do it and it usually evens out. Was this a decisive play?

They reserve the small holding calls for Alabama. Every other call is for holds like the one listed above.

In my experience, the visiting team (who in regular-season OOC Power 5 games like this usually brings the referees) has a harder time with the refs than the home team. It's kinda perverse, really. The refs of the visitor's conference, wanting not to appear biased, will often err slightly in the other direction, being just a tad tougher on their "own" team than on the opponent.

Last year's non-calls were with an SEC officiating crew in Norman, right?

I can't recall if this this exact picture was a decisive play, but I recall there being multiple instances where the defensive player WOULD have gotten to the QB but was held and the QB made a big time throw. Also, just to be fair, dude's jersey is literally being held from behind. I get what you're saying, but it just doesn't get anymore blatant than that. If someone dug up the old gameday thread for that game, I promise you'd see alot more screaming and cursing about holding than is typical in a game day thread.

One must not forget that the officials last year were provided by the SEC and this year will be provided by the Big 12. Visiting team normally provides the refs except in the Pac 12 which requires all non-conference games use Pac 12 officials.

And don't forget the OU fumble early that clearly was a fumble that wasn't called a fumble. If that was an SEC crew, they were severely overcompensating.

It was an SEC crew, and you can find comments on OU forums complaining about UT not getting called for holding.

It was crazy. Somebody dig up the pictures please from the thread that was made after the game specifically to discuss the holding. I don't know how unfortunately. Barnett was held the whole game and he wasn't the only one. Pass interference was terrible too. I don't mind when the refs just let em play, but make sure it goes both ways. We are a disciplined team. I have seen Florida games where the corners held on every single snap counting on the refs not wanting to ruin the game by throwing the flag constantly. That's how okies held last season. It was atrocious.

BS. LOL> Was it a decisive play? Yes, the quarterback would have been sacked 15 behind the line of scrimmage. I would say that is very decisive.

I remember it trended for a while with several pictures under #oklaholding

The worst was the halftime fumble. That was a fumble and Cam recovered it. It ended up being a TD for them. Made me sick.

Yes. The pressure was going to force the QB to throw before he wanted and our DB was taking that to the house. That was a 14 pt swing from that OU scoring drive alone.

The other 13 times it was not called, I can't be certain of without a photo.
