Hello Vols fans
First off, after reading some of these posts, do not think that all Butler fans/students are like the few who are making ignorant posts. Every school has some of them (I'm sure I could find just as many ignorant Volunteer fans across the internet, most likely more because you have a larger fan base). Don't base your opinion of Butler fans based on that minority.
Anyway, saying that, I would just like to say that this should be a great game between 2 top 10 teams (Butler is no 7 seed). A common theme I have seen here is that you feel that a) Tennessee will win if they play like they can and b) Butler can't shoot lights out 2 games in a row. Both of those are false.
I think that Tennessee can play the best game of their life and Butler could still win. If Butler shoots like they are capable of (like you saw today) a great game by Tennessee might not be enough. At the same time, if Butler has an off night from the field, Tennessee could play a terrible game and walk away with a win. While Butler doesn't live and die with the 3 as much as they have in the past, it is still a vital part of their game. All 3 of their losses have been because they didn't shoot well from the field.
Also, don't think Butler can't come out and shoot as good as (or better) than they did against USA. This Butler has a history of shooting very well in tournament play. They shot well all tournament in the preseason NIT last year (you might remember), the NCAA tournament last year, the Great Alaskan Shootout this year, the Horizon Tournament this year, and so far in the NCAA tournament this year. Just to flash back to earlier this year to the Great Alaskan Shootout, from 3 they went 17-32 against Michigan, 14-33 against Virginia Tech, and then 16-24 against Texas Tech. Teams knew what they couldn't let Butler shoot well from 3 and they still failed to stop it. It doesn't mean Butler will shoot lights out Sunday, but I'm just saying if you are counting on them cooling down, you'll will likely be in for a surprise.
Also, don't think you athleticism is as big an advantage as you think it is. Butler is a very discipline team, and one thing they can do is use a teams athleticism against them, by getting them to over play and over pursue.
In the end, this is going to be a very good matchup against what I feel is 2 evenly matched teams. Tennessee is a little better, but not by much. It is a shame to have these teams matched up so early in the tournament (how many times have there been 2 top 10 ranked teams playing in the 2nd round?). Good luck to you guys, and may the winner go on to represent the East in San Antonio.
