So after watching the Butler

Butler was ranked 10 - 15 all year. Probably should have been a higher seed. We are going to have to contest 3's - wide open and they will drain them. Alot of their 3's against USA were wide open.

oh and a comment about the open threes... part of the reason is butler's offensive style, if you play man to man, there will be a lot of open threes, zone gives oh shooters trouble sometimes, but that is usually when mike green and howard have big games... I bet your coach will go zone (although I don't know much about how you play)

Zone ALWAYS leaves people open at the perimeter, so I doubt we do. We're bigger and more athletic, but not as intelligent in terms of BB IQ.

I am just telling you guys, I have been to every home game this year (students get in free lol) when a team throws zone on us it gives us fits

We've played decently against a zone actually. Tyler penetrates the zone REALLY well.

Edit: you're a butler fan. Whoops.

I think your analysis is off. you have not played anyone as athletic as we are this season, nor have you played anyone who shoots it as well.

The biggest key to winning Sunday's game is closing out on their shooters on the perimeter and getting a hand in their face, along with feeding the ball inside. Our post play is going to have to win the game along with a large rebounding advantage. If Tennessee makes those issues a priority, a Vol win should be expected. Also, I highly doubt that Butler will shoot around 60% from 3 point land like they did today.

That kid Campbell for Butler can hit a shot from just about anywhere.

I agree, I would put someone who is lanky out on him that has long arms to put a hand in his face, maybe someone like Tyler Smith or even give Josh Tabb a little more playing time for the purpose of his defense.

The title of the thread said you watched the game but the bold type said you didn't. So which is it?

The first grade teacher asked her class what the farmer said when chicken little said "the sky is falling?" The little girl raised her hand and said "the farmer said holy sh#t, a talking chicken..."

We've heard that one a few times in the past... Athleticism does not win you games, good TEAM basketball, defense, taking care of the ball, experience, and most of all, shooting - wins games. If you know anything about Butler, you'd know this is what we're all about.

By the way, need I remind you of last years outcome when we met? Yes, we lost only 2 players from that team, and more than made up for them with what we gained in Matt Howard, and the other newcommers.

This year's squad may not have been lucky in scheduling, any other year our non conference schedule would have been very strong, but can we help that Michigan, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Texas Tech, Ohio State all had down years - we did the only thing we could - WIN.
This team is 30-3, and had no losses outside of the top 100.

Sunday will be a great game - but don't think for one second that this Butler team can't handle your "athleticism" or that they will be intimidated.

Butler 74 - UT 69

good luck.

So what was your GPA in Clairvoyance 101? I'm thinking it might have been less than stellar.

great comebacks...

I'm suprised I didn't get the standard "we have better athletes" or "what is your attendance average" or how about "where is Butler, anyways?" lines.

Can't wait to visit on Sunday afternoon to see what all of you have to say.

Enjoy the game... it won't be long until Spring Football starts.

I really hope you're not basing your predictions on the preseason NIT results from last year. It was a long time ago and this is a much different (and better) UT team

and you can throw out the 30-3 record as much as you want but ours is pretty similar and has a bit higher strength rating
