Is both Shoop's and gillespie's now gone since miss st hired shoop and we retained gillespie?

Yes he did or effectively the same.Due his salary till 2019 February I think.
Over a million. Will be decreased by State salary.

i was under the impression that paying jones and his staff's contracts. which is why i asked. i included gillespie just to go down the road of assistants

He negotiated where he wouldn’t have a buyout. And accepted the bill on the one from Penn State.

It’s what Hyams and a couple other people tweeted I think. Buyout and owing someone their salary to a certain date aren’t always the same thing here the way I read it. We were only doing 2 (maybe 3?) year contracts on assistants as a policy/rule as well

His was special circumstances. I don’t think he envisioned coaching us past two season. He wanted a shot a a HC position and bet on himself.

Probably true/sounds right.

I think the “no buyout” you are talking about is that he didn’t owe us a buyout if he left to coach elsewhere or be a HC after researching it

So now Shoop, who had hoped to move on to be a HC, took a job again as a DC to resurrect his career. All because of the defensive disaster of the last two years. His fault or not.
