So, about that OC position.... (Merged)

This hire won't really move the needle on the misery index, no matter who the lucky contestant is who gets to come on down and spin the wheel of disaster. I remember a staff chock full of NFLer's who showed up in 2009 and sort of made an impression but not really. For the infinitieth time, players players players.

Falls around here on my champions list:
122nd - Gold medalist in curling
123rd - Madden champion
124th - champion of your friends and family fantasy football league
125th - champion of life

What are the odds we land Mark Helfritch, Bears’ OC? Dude was a great college OC, and now a solid NFL OC. Could we lure him to UT? Haven’t heard him mentioned so I thought I’d throw it out there and see what volnation thinks. Also, Greg Roman is the TE coach at Baltimore. Dude was Harbaugh’s OC at Stanford and the 49ers. I remember both those offenses being tough, gritty, hard nosed running schemes. Seems like a natural fot with CJP’s philosophy. Since none of us know jack, I’m just throwing out intriguing candidates to see what others think.

Helfrich didn’t call plays at Oregon and doesn’t in Chicago.

Source? Never read of any official offers. We did hear talks went well, then DEAD SILENCE. Eerily quiet. I followed the fsu hire and it mirrored it. Maybe just being hopeful, but it seems more than coincidental.
Marker is the source.

I would love to have Freddie Kitchens from Cleveland, but I doubt he’d come to the college level. Hopefully Pruitt’s taking a look at Greg Roman and Sean McVay.

I don’t get the love for Sark. He has fallen flat on his face in Atlanta, he was a drunken mess at USC and his O wasn’t that impressive. I honestly can’t think of an O that he called that has been anything but mediocre at best. His best years were when he got credit for what Kiffin did.

I’d much rather we get an up and comer from noname community college than a tried and true mediocre at best OC. Sark at his best won’t get us anywhere near the top. We’d be exactly where we are on O but yet again wasting better talent.

Why? What does Kitchens bring to the table? Can he recruit? That is almost as important as Xs and Os
