Snowboarding/Skiing/Trips/and all things snowsports thread

We have a place in Snowbird available March 21-28, anyone interested ? Sleeps 4, lodging only.

Well, I cowboyed up and boarded broken today. It was a little unnerving, but we had fun. Certainly not a good feeling banging it around when I fell.

We got a good 6" of fresh snow last night, and this morning was amazing. Sucked to leave, but we all had a great time. My 7-year-old really impressed me. Ready to head west, I believe!

Broke my ankle really bad 3 weeks before my first Colorado trip. Went well until I ate **** the last day

It's so much easier to ski in the Rockies man. You guys will love it.

Of the available within-2.5 hour-away options, what do you guys suggest: Sugar, Beech, or Cataloochee?

Have a trip to Tahoe planned for Feb 4-8 and the conditions look awful right now. Hoping something in the atmosphere changes and drops a couple of feet before I get there but it's not looking good.

I would say Sugar. I might say Beech, but the one time I went they were blowing snow at terrible angles. I couldn't tell you what any run looked like. Lucky I didn't ski into about 50 objects/people that day.

I don't think there is a big difference honesty. If I were you, I would check the ski reports and just go to the place with the best conditions (least amount of ice since we are talking North Carolina).

I'm thinking about getting a magna traction board for icy conditions. Anyone ridden one before?

I'm in snowshoe now. Fresh 6" last night. conditions are awesome. I'll try to pay some pictures later.

I don't know, I really don't care for Cataloochee

here's a few pics.

Just got finished with a night session at Silver Creek. Other than it being bitterly cold, it was awesome. Very short lines too.

My best two sessions were at Silver creek one afternoon and first thing in the morning on Monday. I hate standing in lines, though!
