SN: Did you feel sorry for Phillip Fulmer after the way things fell apart at Tennessee?
Spurrier: Oh, I don't know. I certainly hope not to ever be fired. I did sort of quit on my own up at the Redskins, and I'm sure they were happy I left. That's one thing I would really like to do when my coaching career is over, is say, "OK, I'm finished, I'm out of here," rather than be fired. But, on the other hand, it's no big deal to be fired.

I hate it when people don't answer the question that they were asked.

He actually said "yes, I think Fulmer was sorry and it helped my career immensely". The writer just made it politically palatable.

I don't give a rat@$$ what SOS thinks....but him thinking it's no big deal to get fired is good because I see a firing in his future.

Spurrier: Ya' know, being fired is a funny thing. When I grill outside in the summer, I always start a fire. We have delicious bratwursts and a vegetable medley. On the other hand, in the winter I build a fire in my fireplace.

SN: Wait, what did I just ask you?

Spurrier: Huh? Did you say something?

The "Ole Ball Coach" legend is on fire and losing altitude. When another guy that could actually coach showed up at FL and inherited that talent base he's already almost got FL fans asking "Steve who?". Epic fail in the NFL and this offensive "genius" has had his SC teams average 7th in the SEC in total offense and his best season being 8-5 in '06 including a Liberty Bowl win.

Bobby Bowden has been asked ..." What are you most proud of in your career."

He said..." I have never been fired."

Coaches WILL be fired if they are in the profession long enough.

You gotta love how the Ole ball coach can dance around a question. Of course he felt bad about it. He wanted Fulmer to stay so he could beat him some more.

Seriously though. All he had to say was, "no, I didn't feel sorry for him". He's certainly said worse.

Typical Spurrier. When asked a question about someone else, he turns it into an answer about himself.

Gamecocks didn't look too impressive. In fact Wolfpack had a few opportunities to win that game in the 4th. Enjoy the quotes from the Ole ball coach while he is still around.

Spurrier didn't do too badly for himself at UF with the SEC titles, National Championship, Heisman winning QB, and and 87-14 conference record. His mistake was choosing to accept the head coaching position at South Carolina wher there isn't a decent recruiting base.
