Because we had empty seats at Lindsey Nelson and we lost. You really cannot argue any tangible benefit from tonight’s game.
I don’t get your point about empty seats at LNS. 8300 had a chance to see the Vols play. on the contrary, you‘ve not provided any tangible reason NOT to play at Smokies Stadium once every season other than you want them all at LNS.

I have a friend in the Tri-Cities, and he halfway joked that he should have gone. I got the feeling that 20-30 minutes East seemed to make a difference. People attended tonight who would normally not attend games. 1 game out of 25 non-conference games is nothing.
Cool. We can play this game as an exhibition just like we played in Memphis in the fall. Not in the middle of the regular season

agreed. Not to mention, all games are sold out at LNS. Great opportunity for new fans to attend game for $10 or less. No brainer for once a season.

Maybe playing this game on a neutral site will benefit later in the season. I know everyone is worried about the record. However, playing teams like Iona and Rhode Island doesn’t make us better.

? The university loses out on revenue and loses the game to boot.

Could certainly help in future neutral sites like Hoover and Omaha. Both of which are natural grass like.......Smokies Stadium.

Like other points in this thread is purely hypothetical.

Our opinions don’t matter. Danny White made the call and has a better track record than all of us and our trajectory as a whole is phenomenal. Let’s enjoy the ride.

Funny....can’t play SEC tournament or CWS at LNS. Maybe it’s a good idea to play at some neutral sites on natural grass during the season. Certainly couldn’t hurt.
Couldn’t hurt? We lost to Tennessee Tech

We don’t need to play this game to prove that.

I would agree that we shouldn't have played with different bats than normal in the middle of the season. That's funky. Whose idea was that? And I would agree playing a game in that park probably should have been scheduled when we aren't in conference play.

But, if we're talking about NEED - we don't need to play Tech, either. We don't need to play a lot of these mid-week games during conference schedule. So, why do we play them if we don't need to? A lot of very young fans east of town got to see UT baseball and for whom the 1/2 hour further drive and parking snagle at campus would have been too late getting in on a school night. And they got to see a well played tight game that was in doubt until the last pitch. We're growing the fan base. It's all good. It's just one game. It'll be forgotten by Friday nite.

You sure about that? Randy Boyd is the President of UT and also owns the Smokies.
