I value your opinion more than any on this board because you've been there and done it, and then some, and then some. Why the optimism? Not being critical, just wondering why you feel that way? These 3 weeks have been very strange because we are doing things we've never done under Butch, fumbles, penalties, Dobbs making poor decisions, etc... Have we just been slow playing everyone or do we have real problems?

Maybe one day UT will have a coach and administration more worried about winning than telling people what clothes to wear to a game and what uniform to wear.

If you think that the cover is more important than the book content, that a grade is more important than what is learned, that appearance is more important than the person; then by all means let's do what makes 20 year olds feel good. If, however, you think that they need to learn that substance rather than appearance is the important thing, then they should be proud to represent UT in traditional colors rather than Nike/Oregon fad.

Every publisher will tell you the cover impacts a book's sells. Every professor and student will tell you a grade influences the time and effort put into learning the material covered in the classroom.
Just because what's inside is more important doesn't mean that what's outside is unimportant.

This is Florida Tennessee one of the best rivalries in college football and we are going to ruin tradition with the freaking grays. I don't like it.

Our "tadition" in the past 25 years or so has been to lose to Florida. Is that what you're clinging to?

Personally, I like the idea of using black uniforms, but I think it would be best looking if it was black jerseys and orange pants ala 2009. I know not everyone agrees, but those were sharp and I think it was completely acceptable use of the color, especially it being a Halloween game.

EDIT: to answer your question, I'd much rather use the current Smokey Grey unis as opposed to what you posted.

I think I like the greys better too. It is a novel idea to model the uniforms after Smokey's appearance though. Someone did a bunch of teams after seeing Oregon's unis this weekend.
