Smokey Gray Uniform this year

I’m ok with alt unis but homecoming should be traditional orange jerseys/white pants.
I typically agree with this, but the salute service game is typically the closest game to Veterans Day, when Nike also rolls out its salute to service apparel for its college teams. Unfortunate that those two dates intersect this year, because homecoming is normally the traditional uniforms with the Summitt Blue accessories.

I see the connection that hubbs made in his report there, but I don’t think it’s a guarantee that the Smokey Grey uniform will be worn for the salute to service game FWIW. According to the major retailer I do some contract work for, Nike has a separate Smokey Grey (actually anthracite) and Salute to Service retail lines for this fall. I would actually think it’s unlikely that they are worn for that game for that reason.

If we need to do an alt uniform/helmet, I would be interested to see some choices besides Gray.
I get doing it for clothing sales. I just thing gray may not be the best choice every year.

During Dickey’s tenure, the orange T on the white helmet was introduced. There have been some minor modifications since, but in 1977, the bold power T defined the mark, and one can hardly notice the change to it in 2015. Whatever the color of the uniforms, give me the power T on the helmet.

Nope..The players love the Dark Modes and they are who matters, not us. They are the ones on the field. End of Discussion!
That so? Your take is the folks in the stands who essentially fund the players, the program don't get a say....darn silly. There are no more student-athletes, they're paid players just like Pros. You think the Pros bend that way.

Wear the school colors. PERIOD!

I love all the alternative colors. I support the players and if they wanna wear black/ grey/ or blue so be it. The players opinions is what matter PERIOD. Soon fans feel too entitled like their isn't a waiting list to get tickets lol. Baseball won the championship in Black!!! It doesn't matter what you play in as long as it has that T on it.

Well that’s an interesting news drop.
That’s not a news drop, the Smokey Grey Series announced by UT in 2022 was through the 2025 season. Adidas may have a different idea, but the brand standards that UT has adopted has Dark Mode as the alternate uniform for men’s sports and Summitt Blue for the women’s teams going forward.

You don’t have to like the answer, but he’s correct.

The only vote the fans get is with their wallets on licensed gear and that vote has gone overwhelmingly in favor of more black gear, not less.

I dig the black with orange accents. It's my favorite UT combo. I also love the retro theme with orange shoulders that UT had during Condredge Holloways time. The gray unis....not so much. Still, if the kids like 'em, it's good enough for me.

Pros wear alternate jerseys all of the time. The Grizzlies seemed to wear their black or red alternates more at the end of the basketball season than their traditional blue. It’s marketing, and when fans buy them, they are speaking with their wallets.

I don't like the answer and just because you agree with him means nothing to me. I've never worn anything other than orange in Neyland and that's not changing. So my wallet is closed to the DM gear.

While the average fan, as you suggest, may only get to vote with their wallet on just licensed gear, donors wallets speak a different language.
