Butch doesn't believe in using a fullback....

um wait - that is true.

As long as posters on here are citing media and other sources, they probably wouldn’t have that much to worry about since Butch is a public figure. A lawyer would have to prove actual malice, which is a pretty high bar.

Public figures are protected by the same laws that everyone else is protected by.

I assumed he was talking about coming after posters for defamation. It’s a lot harder for public figures, like Butch, to sue somebody than it would be for a regular private citizen.

Anyone spreading gossip and lies about anyone is a slime ball.

Besides, there's no need in any of this. Butch himself is doing enough damage to his reputation.

You start slandering or inciting individuals to cause endangerment you got a problem buddy if a lawyer wants to take the case....and in this day and age they are just waiting to see how these things would stand up in court...

I think it could be pretty easily shown that this MOB mentality and going over the line could possibly cause endangerment to peoples lives....

How do you think the kids feel...are you proud of volnation.....what if it was your kids who had to face this trashing every day......
I hope Freak warns people that crossing the line will not be tolerated...its the right thing to do
When does falsely claiming slander become slander? The tweets are cached on the web. The fight story has now been discussed by major media with sources.

Don't know about the first 2, but the punch seems to be at least corroborated by witnesses and not a fabrication from nowhere. The players have definitely fought and some of butch's words support that.

Don't know about the last one.

Someone said the tweets are fake. Well some, the ones I am aware of, are not fake.

A plea to stop smearing is fair, but don't start smearing others by calling things fake when they aren't.

Buddy I was there after the 50-10 lose to alabama at home last year but you didn't seem too concerned then, and you didn't see me coming on here or anywhere else calling people names, and their family names, and stating things that were not only not true, but acting like you know what you are talking about. You guys have an agenda. There is a way to handle yourself. What you say, and what you do has consequences.

Lets take recruits leaving or bailing for example. Butch brought these kids in. They want to be here for Butch. He has formed a relationship with their families over a long period of time. This is bigger then winning the georgia game. It's real life. If Butch gets replaced, they will get a coach in here that is better then Butch right? So, they either get Butch or someone better.... so why would they de commit? This fan base outs them selves and shows who they really are is why. This is your chance to handle yourselves with dignity and class and show who you really are as a fan base... and instead you go on every social media that will give you a cause and talk like 14 YOs. That's the truth you don't want to face. You guys are being riot baited for clicks and you fall for it every single time because you have an agenda, and because you need the blood. You want SOMEONE to pay. and you want to be entertained doing it.

Go preach to someone else.

Having a little fun on a college sports related message board isn't the jihad you and your ilk wanna make it out to be.

Very few on here are into the character assassination and online agendas you drama queens rant about.

The sad truth is that these players know the coaches recruiting them a lot more than any fan posting here and that's who they decommit from, the coaches. The same ones who have led this team from one embarrassment on the field after another for the past year.

Players want to win and players want to get to the NFL. Jones doesn't have an impressive track record with either one. His used car salesman shtick has worn thin and winning is where the rubber meets the road for most kids.

You want a truth? You guys cringe at the thought of your latest cult of personality getting any shred of criticism and bristle at the thought of being wrong when they falter. You're more interested in being right and standing on some imagined moral high ground than actually seeing the program you profess to follow improve.

Been to every Alabama home game since 90, still remember the blocked kick that led to Doyle nailing a 50 yarder to beat us at the end. So spare me your true vol fan test. I got you beat there too.

ut.

That is also who they commit too. Thus when a coach they committed too may not be the coach they play for - they will decommit from THE SCHOOL to find another coach they would be comfortable playing for as a backup plan.

Message boards and the media aren't causing Jones to make poor strategic decisions in games which lead to losses or leading to players bailing on him and their teammates mid season.

Neither you nor I are in practice coaching these kids to finish blocks, tackle, and do all the fundamental things that seems to routinely escape Jones' teams.

The key factors to what is happening on and off the field is Jones, his players, and his staff. The negativity from the press and fans is a by product of what happens on the field.

And I don't blame any of these kids for having multiple back up plans and doing what they feel is best for them.

Anyone who has ever switched jobs has done basically the same thing.

Arrogant and stubborn but a moron?

Really?

Without knowing I would still happily place a very large wager that his football IQ is vastly higher than the majority of posters on this board.

Not on game day. He is one of the least natural coaches I've ever seen lead a team.

The bold are Fact not False keep crying

C'mon bud, do you honestly think that Tuttle v. Warrior is the 1st time in the history of college football that two team mates got into a fight and one of them got beat down! You're smarter than that and are reaching just to prove your point. 41-0 is basically nuff said and everyone knows it!

Nobody needs to smear him. He's in over his head. He's not a bad person. It just isn't working.

At least somebody wanted the damn job and challenge of putting out our dumpster fire on the hill! If I remember correctly, there were several that said thanks but no thanks. The man has my respect for that alone! He may be in over his head but I think he has earned the right to be shown the door in a respectful, classy way!

Respect for taking millions of dollars a year ? Nah.

Regardless of the game day frustration, Butch has worked very hard to try to rebuild this program.

I don't want him to be retained as coach, but appreciate the job he's done fixing the issues (lack of talent, APR, poor relationship with TN HS coaches) that Dooley left behind.

You mean some fans take it too far?? I am shocked but that is the nature of the business

The nature of a business that pays him 4 mil to be a little above the noise...

Poor Butch.

Now I'm not advocating the personal stuff, but he's heavily compensated. I think he's gonna be okay.

Because a person makes millions means they don't deserve respect?

Not what I said. I am not going to give someone respect for taking a job HE wanted. I do respect Jones but the assertarion, which was made, was that he should be respected bc he took a job no one wanted. That in of itself is stupid.

And if "by one of those" you mean do I want a coaching upgrade? Then the answer to that is yes. I have seen CBJ shat the bed too many times on game day.

Have to agree. People act like he has personally injured them in some way and take needless shots. It's a game people and he's just a coach

There is a small group leading the charge but a much bigger group who don't realize they're being used as troll entertainment. Take the high road and be smarter

Has all the earmarks of MASSIVE IMMATURITY...I think most of us understand that...it reminds me of a soap opera...I feel really embarrassed for those people...I seriously do...even if some things have truth it's still just low class to "rub it all over you".
When you wrestle with a pig you both get dirty---but the pig doesn't mind!!!!

Sure he WANTED this job but my point is that several "savior" coaches either didn't want to put in the work to rebuild or didn't think highly enough of our program to want to be a part of it. I guess you and I look at respect a little bit different. If a man gives me everything he has and is sincere in his effort but fails, I can respect that man. I don't think there is a single Vol fan that can question Butch's effort in trying to rebuild this program. Yes he has topped out and yes we need someone else to take us to the next level but the $hit storm of nonsense and the eat your own mentality of running him out of town any way possible has gone over board. The fake DUI story with a photoshopped mugshot, the acting like players fighting in practice is unheard of and the personal attacks are pathetic and IMO we are better than that. That's how bama fans act not Vol fans! The on field results are bad enough and we fans don't need to add to it by acting like classless idiots.
