I was trying to recall the name of the former short Vol corner that went on to play in the NFL and his name escapes me, McChesney perhaps? That devolved into a discussion as to who were the smallest Vols to ever become starters. I confess not to know but I told some friends that surely VN posters would know. So how 'bout it?

Idk if he was one of the smallest, but Johnathon Hefney was one of my favorite smaller players. He could lay the wood.

Had to be him he was only 5'5 135

yep JJ was a buck 35 when he walked on. added some weight and earned his stripe was team captain by his senior year went undrafted and played 8 years in the nfl. i really wish we would've offered his son Jalen I think he's going to be a beast.

I recall reading an article about jj. he grew a couple inches his first year @ UT. he was def 5'5 or 5'6 135 when he walked on

I knew JJ, lived in Reese Hall at the same time a couple years before he walked on. He always had very broad shoulders, I'd be shocked if he weighed that little. He was a little guy, but 135? I'd be shocked.

Anywho, he didn't played at 135, he played at 165 or so.

In light of recent allegations, lets say that Hefney was a great hitter! We don't need anyone else being investigated.
