There have been many factors to us starting slow in games, this past weekend was turnovers, but IMO it's because we are waiting until too late to really dial up the playbook. If our offense played the same hurry up tempo from the 2nd half in the 1st half, I think we would start out faster. We always line up fast but then we look to the sideline and give defenses time to adjust. In the 2nd half the play call goes in quicker and we line up and snap it immediately. I just feel the less time we give the defense to look at our formation the better off we have been. We are kind of similar to the Oregon offense in the 2nd half, the 1st half the formations are the same but we are much more methodical.

The reverse side of this is with our defense so banged up we need to control time of possession as much as possible.

Either way, that loss this past weekend really hurt even as a fan, I can only imagine what the players where feeling. I think we come out this weekend and finally play four full quarters of sound football and go 1-0 this week.

Our first touchdown in the first quarter was a reverse throwback, double pass back to the QB. Pretty vanilla stuff

Butch has stated that he doesnt understand why we start so slow. If he doesnt, none of us should think we can. Just my opinion.

Other than the Appy state game I completely disagree. We have moved the ball down the field at will against nearly every single opponent early. We have just been careless with possessions in the first half. Look at the Florida game. We drove up the field several times. We just couldn't get it in.

Penalties, fumbles, dropped passes and interceptions have nothing to do with the playbook.

Exactly. Maybe this group of guys just needed to lose a game before they could finally understand just how important it is to focus and execute. I'm hoping.

The rest of the playbook that has been waiting on this game will be opened up.

With that said, don't get mad seeing us run any of our RBs straight up the middle for 2 yards many times. You have to do this to open up play action.

This. We actually came out and started fast in quite a few games, we just came away with nothing because we've been careless. We could have matched TAMU Saturday, point for point in the first quarter if we didn't have fumblitis.

Yes / I'm reaching, but it's very possible that aTm will be for Tenn as Ole Miss was for Alabama 2015.

Gotta stop turning the ball over. If we can do that, we can beat any team in the country. Talent wise we are that good.

First game or two I think we really did start slow on offense, defense needs a little time to see the game plan they are against ( new coach, new system?). Last few games have not started slow on offense, played pretty wide open, just seem to be trying too hard. When you start running before you catch the ball, just keep trying to hard after contact, looking to run before a hand off, ect. Maybe this will improve this week with a little more experience under their belt.
