This thread is nuts.
A few counterpoints. KK has some issues because she can't jump 2 inches off the floor but strength is not her problem. She can pound with anybody. ( I will give you that Key needs more time in the weight room).
On the slow hand eye coordination, anyone who makes such a blanket statement on a team with Rennia, Rae, Jordan H and W. (i.e. the heart of the LVs rotation) is not paying attention. And uh, given that Key is one of the nation's top shot blocker, her hand coordination can not be that "slow".
[BTW, did anyone notice how well Jordan Horston defending last night. She was really locked in.]
Now, the "lazy" passes are an issue but the idea that Kellie has not been addressing this problem in film sessions and practices is nuts.
Of course, the coaching staff is trying to correct this problem but bad habits die hard.
Sometimes passers get tunnel vision and just don't see the defender lurking, ready to jump the passing lane and sometimes, per mlindsay, is that passer and target are not on the same page.
None of this has to do with strength to zip passes it is just timing, communication, and making good reads. Under pressure, sometimes LVs get rattled or put themselves into impossible positions by walking into double team traps. Destiny, Suarez (both freshman so a little understanding here) and Walker have shown that tendency.
Jordan Horston has gotten a lot better in her reads and decision making so we have seen tangible improvement.
And on other side, particularly in recent games, the LVs have been scoring a lot of points by threading needles and make great catches in traffic and then getting lay-ups. Jordan H. and Rennia and Rae and Rennia have been connecting really well.
