I still think, regardless if Slive likes Kiffin or not, that it is his job to defend the SEC when the NCAA starts doing things they want. Slive is the SEC commissioner and should act like a big boy when it comes to things like this. He isn't the Bama/Florida/Georgia commissioner, he is the SEC commissioner, and with that comes protecting and defending the entire conference. It also means that he should be governing these coaches to play fair. He should not ever be playing favorites nor should he watch as the NCAA picks apart high schools to dig up dirt on UT.
It is in Slives best interest to have UT's back. UT brings just as much, if not more, revenue than the Bama and Florida programs. If UT sinks off into irrelevance, not only is he hurting his pockets, but he is hurting the conference as a whole. Other conference commissions stand up for programs, regardless of favorites, but you will never see other conference commissioners play favorites. It is Slives job to be objective with things like this and to protect schools, whether he likes them or not, at all costs.
This whole ordeal proves Slive has favorites and that he is an immature kid with a magnifying glass burning ants. He will stand by and laugh as the NCAA tries to tear down the walls at UT, just as long as they don't mess with UF and UA.:banghead2:
