I have been considering cutting the cord and actively asking about these two services and this seems to be the consensus

On two separate occasions I have signed up for Sling and canceled it within an hour because of streaming issues. The first time I called customer service and they said the problem was on my end. I stream youtube, netflix, hulu and amazon prime flawlessly. Sounds like Sling has not gotten any better.

I get my free internet from a neighbor's Comcast signal about 250 feet up a steep hill, using a setup that includes a Netgear range extender out on my deck and a Roku stick that I've found results in a stronger signal than just the tv's built-in "smart" feature.

Even with that Charlie Brown system I get excellent service from YouTube TV. An occasional short blip or two during peak times and that's it. Plus, the channels offered suit me very well.

YouTube TV = 💯 A++. $50/month and you get PLENTY of sports, DVR ability, and other channels including locals. It’s great.

The other night, about halfway through, I tired of the BYU-Utah game so I went to record on You Tube TV and catch up in the morning. Discovered I could also choose to record ALL games for either team, ALL conference games for each school, even ALL NCAA football games. I think there were even more choices. And with ability to record as much as you want, you can't beat it. A minor downside is that things remain for only 6 months from the day of the recording.

I have recently tried different streaming services to replace Dish. Youtube.tv seems the best to me.

Does anyone recommend PlayStationTV? I'm cutting the cord and trying to decide which streamer to go with.

I’ve been a Sling users for 3 years and have had few issues. I use Sling primarily for Vol football but do also watch Beat Bobby Flay and an occasional movie 😊. For $25 I’m happy. Have not use YouTube TV.

Tried Sling TV once For the free 1 week trial. Cancelled the same day when I found out they carry CNN and MSNBC but no Fox News. That was 2 years ago, and I understand they still don’t offer Fox News. PlayStation Vue and YouTube TV were both good. Currently, I have Hulu live. A few less channels, but it has everything I watch for less money than PlayStation and YouTube, plus includes a Hulu subscription in the cost.

It's a consensus that YouTube tv is higher quality.

Another consideration, if you need more than one stream, it's actually a better value. You can share your account with five people and three simultaneous streams are allowed. If you split the cost three ways it's actually cheaper than sling.

Mine streams fine and the main thing you need with Sling is good internet speed. I had issues before but it was usable. Have since gotten a “mesh WiFi” system and have since had zero issues

I did not know this . Youtube tv and you get locals will have to check this out. I have sling and I am not that much of a fan.

I have a 7 year old Tivo and Spectrum cable. It works 99.999% of the time and I don't have any lag rewinding or fast forwarding recorded shows. It has commercial skip which skips over the entire set of commercials for most shows with one button press. I tried using YouTube's streaming service and almost made it 3 days before I gave it up. I'd rather pay a $100/month for cable than $40/month for crappy streaming service.
