Sling TV

I think this discussion is about legal services. Most of us already know you can mod your Amazon Firesticks and use kodi to basically watch anything

I admit I have an interest in kodi but not to cheat out reasonable pay providers. (Vue etc).
On occasion, there is a special or one time event aired on a channel that I would like to see but would never upgrade an entire package to catch one airing.

With 16 tuners you can record any 10 shows at say 8pm and still watch 6 more live.

newest promotion, need top 200 for sec network, it is good til August.

Keep in mind, Dish is a major supporter of Tn sports and Charlie Ergen is a VFL.

LOL. That is why I'd love to cut the cable but it's so convenient. At some point I will need to get with the program.:)

If I have Sling TV (+Sports package) and a Mohu Leaf will I be able to watch every UT game?

Here are the relevant channels I'll have:

SEC Network
ESPN U
ESPN
ESPN2
FOX
ABC
NBC
CBS

Thanks in advance. Go Vols!

That's how I watched them last year.

Currently there is no DVR that will work with sling, am i right?

You're right. The games are always on YouTube the next day so I wasn't worried about it. Plus most of the shows I watch are on Hulu or Netflix.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I think I found just about every game I cared to watch again on youtube. I do have several still on my DVR that I will watch periodically.

Never heard of that but sounds promising. How does that compare to one of the cable monster DVRs?

Not to put you off, but if you go to amazon and look the specs up and the comments from buyers you will get a ton of comments that show how you can create unlimited storage capacity and what features are working for them. I love that place.

I like the channel master because it includes streaming services, like vudu, pandora, youtube, channel master tv, sling tv. It works with unscrambled cable and satellite as well. As mentioned, I use it for sling and over the air tv. I have a 1TB external drive, DVR has logos like direct (pause live tv record 2 programs at once, etc.) The playback is much more crisp than my genie on direct. Awesome product.

Was reading a comparison between Sling TV and Playstation VUE. Looks like VUE supports up to 5 streams. Of course it would require a lot of bandwidth. I get 25 mps down right now. Not sure if that is enough. The only fast internet service available where I live is Comcast and my ISP Service runs about 65.00 a month. I believe the next level is close to 100.00. They got me by the Kahunas.

Thank you. I was just on Amazon reading about it. I may need 3 of them to support my entire family. The 5 Tuner DirecTV DVR is not enough sometimes. I have more research to do I guess.

Google Nexus player sideloaded with Kodi and I also have sling TV. My cost per month to watch whatever my heart desires, including new movies, etc? $30 per month. Bye bye DirecTV...

Legality issues? No worries ... Just use a VPN... Companies have committed highway robbery over the years with their overpriced packages. I'm taking my TV back.

I have tried cutting the cable before with mixed results. I liked it, but my wife was not pleased. We tried slingTV. We have the Google ChromeCast and Amazon Fire Stick. I have looked into Kodi before, but I have to admit. I was a little overwhelmed by it. I need to watch more of the YouTube videos of it to understand it more. I am seriously wanting to cut the cable for good and, since we are planning to move deep into the country soon, I will probably need to find a way very soon.

TUSKTimes, I would like to hear more about this Channel Master. I looked at it and am very intrigued.

Oh I'm sorry, I must have missed the post where this thread was so designated. And no, most people
do not know about Kodi but thanks for your input.

Let the bonding began. I see I'm going to have to get off this football stuff.

Lol,but a serious thanks to you and the others.
I just can't justify continuing to pay more each year while better services exist for cheaper prices. It's just the idea they are ripping you off so blatantly.
There may be a slight learning curve for newcomers but it appears the recent advances have made it the smarter choice.

It's a growing club. It's ironic that something like sling tv is owned by Dish Network. Instead of simply losing customers by the droves which is starting to look like the norm, they are competing with the internet giants like Hula and Netflix. Looks like we are going to see a lot more of this live tv, specific packaging for much less.

If people can figure out each one's over the air solution for local programming, the skies the limit. Especially now that ESPN, Fox Sports network, TNT, TBS, sports etc. are getting on board with these internet solutions, more cheaply.
