Just wondering what your thoughts on recruiting will look like now. Does Tee Martin come and if so flip a few USC guys like Ramsey? Does Jones have some good ties in GA and FL? Ive heard thats where a lot of Cincinnati players come from. I know its a bit early but you were sold on strong, are you sold on Jones?

Jones does recruit in Georgia, but he gets the players that UGA, Tech, Auburn, and South Carolina don't want.
He gets their left overs!!!!

The same is true in Florida. He gets the players that Florida, FSU, the "U", Central Florida, don't want....

No! He will not hire Tee Martin!

No, Tee Martin will not be able to bring USC recruits to U.T. even if he were hired. Some of these kids want out of the state of Tennessee. Patrick Turner, Golden Tate,
Ingle Martin, all come to mind.... of kids who just wanted out of Tennessee....

I don't know. I could post some long incoherent rambling about how Tee Martin is not coming here despite the fact that LWS has said that he will be, but lets be honest I would just be talking out of my ass

Post earlier today
I'm not going to have much time to post for a while but something you will learn today. This has been sort of a dream job for Butch Jones ever since he brought his team here last year. He was absolutely blown away by the stadium and the fan's, loved the campus and facilities.

I love hearing that right there. Pride and Passion. Something Dooley and his expensive ass tailored orange pants didn't know anything about it.

I liked the Pants.

I didn't FEAR them........actually nobody did.

Don't know where you are getting your info, but neither Turner nor Martin "wanted to get out of Tennessee" In fact, TN was in BOTH of their top two. Turner picked USC b/c of the campus and LA matched with his unlce (K. Biggers) was telling him about his own experience here (not a good one for a top TN hs athlete) and Turner chose USC.

Ingle Martin was as good as it gets at the hs level at qb. He led MBA to three state titles and was a big fan of TN and had them high on his list (#2) the entire time to UF. The only reason he went to UF was b/c he wanted to play for Spurrier and in that system.

What r talking about??? Seriously this is just dumb. His orange pants actually prove his pride and passion for UT. Do you even know why he wore them?? If you did then you wouldnt make stupid ignorant comments like this. The guy knows way more than most on here about the importance and greatness that is UT and sec football. You r just being a jackazz if you think Dooley did not revere the position as the HC at UT. I would even go as far as saying imo more than UGA based on that being his fathers legacy.

If we can't stop bashing a guy that gave his all for UT then we are never gonna get through these tough times.

So it was more that he was just a terrible coach and in way over his head? And a complete d-bag.. As fans we deserve the right to say what we please, especially when it comes to coaches that milk this university for 10's of millions..

Gave his all?Is that some kind of joke? The son of a ***** QUIT at the end of the Missouri game and wasn't even man enough to finish out the season. And if you buy his excuse that he didn't want to be a distraction then either someone has laid a hard lick upside your head and you're not thinking straight or you are just plain dumb.I supported Dooley until he laid down and quit now I'm just thankful that him and his orange pants won't be roaming the Neyland sidelines ever again.

Would be interested to know more about the Kirsten Biggers issue. He was a beast at Brentwood Academy and is back now as their S & C coach. I would hate to think he is hurting us with guys like Ramsey or up and comers like Derrick Barnett or CJ Sanders among others.

Agree completely. I know everyone thinks this job is the best of all time, but Dooley took on this responsibility when no one else would! CBJ was not the first choice either obviously. Tenn is not the heavenly choice many think it is... Let us root for the man in place and his respective soldiers.

The saddest part of this hire for me is that ARKANSAS has managed to hire considerably bigger names for their last two coaches than UT. Why? Arkansas gets Petrino / Tennessee gets Dooley...Arkansas gets Bielema / Tennessee gets Jones. Either Tennessee, for some reason, is less attractive to potential coaches than Arkansas, who faces LSU and Alabama...OR, the hiring efforts of UT have been deficient. For clarity, I'm not suggesting Bielema is a home run hire or that Jones will be a flop, but Bielema is undeniably more highly regarded than Jones. From my perspective, it appears as though Arkansas' AD has simply been more determined. Why? To put it another way...With the previous hire, ARK got the head coack of the ATL Falcons while Tennessee got the coach from La Tech. With this hire, ARK got the coach from Wisconsin and Tenn, a school with a better tradition, a softer conference, and geographical superiority, got the coach from Cincinatti, after trying to land bigger names. Regardless of who we think Butch Jones may become, the truth remains...UT is being outsold by ARK.

Bielma is NOT a big time hire for this conference. Yes, I know he has carried Wisconsin to a Big 10 Championship the last 3 years, but it is the Big 10. JC level... CBJ is classified in the same context with that statement, probably a little worse..., BUT Arkansas did not necessarily make a better hire in this case. Now, for the Petrino hire, that was WAY different than the Vol hire. Tenn was on their 9th choice after Kiffin decided to bolt with 3 weeks left in recruiting.

This isn't the thread for this type of subject, but I'm starting to warm up to the hire a bit. Patterson made a lot more sense to me, but it is what it is.

Unlike Dooley, Jones does have a body of work to sell, coming in. With the right staff hires, I think he can vastly improve his standing right off the bat. I would like to see Randy Shannon and a few hires from the NFL ranks.

Maybe hire Raheem Morris to be the DC/DB coach, that way we not only get a big name coach with an NFL Pedigree, but also one who can fill 2 spots...allowing us to keep a ST/TE coach

Never seen a poster swing and miss as much as you. He has offered Tee and sounds like he will take it. Then Ramsey and Hatcher are back in play. Anymore solid info?
