so my sister's fiancee is in Marine basic training...and it's coming to a close on December 20 (SHE GETS TO SEE HIM!!) she's sooo excited!! and I've been wanting to do a countdown thing.

like on day 48 I want to do something fun with the number 48...than 47...then 46 and so on.

does anybody have any ideas? because I've been thinking about this for a few days and I have none.

you could do like we do with the number picture game in the endzone... just find a cool pic with each number for each day and post it.

for example:

you could also find some interesting facts about the number... for example:

48 is twice the total number of major and minor keys in Western tonal music (twenty-four), not counting enharmonic equivalents. Johann Sebastian Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier is informally known as The Forty-Eight because it consists of a prelude and a fugue in each major and minor key, for a total of forty-eight pieces.

Howdy Doody had 48 freckles (there were only 48 states in the Union when it first aired in 1947)

nice post volfanbill :eek:k:

thanks. just an idea. I'm sure there are even more creative people on here than myself that could improve upon it. Afterall, building excitement up for the return for one of our country's finest from basic is definitely worth it.

Is she a sports fan? You can tie the numbers to famous sports figures that wore that number.

Another idea is to get a big picture of her fiancee and and cover it with 48 squares. She can remove one each day to slowly reveal him.

haha, if stealing ideas from other people is the only requirement of the job, I can handle it. I would like to thank whoever started the number picture game and OWH for all his quotes and randomness about certain events that gave me "my" ideas.

Both good ideas, but the second is very creative.
