Still, Warren's experiment, though extreme, is a reminder that coffee is pushing our personal budget too far. A recent survey estimated that the average American spends about $1000 on coffee a year. That number is expected to spike in 2012.

It ain't pushing mine too far. I still don't pay more than $1.50 at the Pilot stations and I usually drink for $.50 a cup at the office. I won't come to about a third of what these guys are saying most Americans spend.

Exactly. If buying expensive coffee is pushing your budget, then you should really look at your life and change some things.

A reminder that coffee is pushing our personal budgets?

No.

This is a reminder that if you order 15 extra shots of espresso, your drink will likely cost you 20+ dollars.

I haven't paid for a drink at Starbucks in a long time. The girls at the one by me love me to death.

I haven't paid for a drink at Starbucks in a long time, either. I don't waste money on coffee drinks.

Hell, I don't even drink caffeine. The only caffeine I get is if I eat a chocolate bar on the weekend, or once in a while I'll have a coke with my meal.

I haven't stopped at Starbucks in a month or two and only have caffeine with sugar free energy drinks. Usually once a week or less.

Chocolate has caffeine in it?

I've never set foot in a starbucks in my life. Never will.

I used to go on occasion to use their wifi. Back before wifi was everywhere, starbucks was like the only place you could get it.

I've never bought coffee there, but I have bought a pastry or two.
