Can Bob Shoop transform an average defense to a championship caliber defense, your guess is as good as mine, but I'm sure hoping Shoop can do exactly that...
Go Vols

I personally think the Georgia game may be the most important game of 2016 for the Vols

I also think Georgia will be the most talented team in the east

I know many on VN will say Florida and or Alabama

What game do you think is the most important for team 120 and why?

Florida. The streak in and of itself is important when UT needs to go so often into UF's backyard for recruits or compete with them for the best players in NC or VA.

But beyond that, it is the first conference game. It is the first in a brutal stretch for UT while UF has no such difficulty in their schedule.

To win the East, UT needs at least 2 of the 4 games in that stretch. And one of them has to be UF. If not, UF should only lose to LSU. The Vols would have to run the table and hope for help from UGA or Arkansas besides LSU.

Just not likely.

All of the games are important. Loose focus of that and you don't achieve your goals. It's that simple.

I wish we had a shot at Oklahoma again! Bristol is HUGE given all the hype but agree from a mental standpoint and to kick off the SEC its Florida. That said they are ALL important and no one can be looked past.

America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed. That, and beating Florida.

will be a spring board and confidence builder for the rest of the season.
I am so tired of Florida beating us.

Every year our most important game is Florida, followed by UF, and finally those hated Gators

Beating Florida.
That puts us in the driver's seat in the East.
I'm not sold on Georgia. The QB position is to important to start a freshman under a new system.

I know this was 2007 but I hope Butch plays this as a reminder. All are important but we can not sleep walk through the Appy State opener looking forward to Bristol. First game is vital to set the tone.

the last game that was not important was Kentucky in Dooley's Waterloo, and we (some key players) didn't want to win it to become bowl eligible. Since Butch, they have all taken on importance and will continue to become more important as the wins get bigger.

Bigger and more important every week and we going to win them all!

Yeah yeah yeah, Florida is important, Georgia is important, Bama is important. But is just as important to not give away an easy game. We can't have any games like Arkansas from last year or struggle with a team like USC.

Virginia Tech, weird setting, first year coach. We need to take care of business.

Florida

Its the start of the 4 game stretch thats going determine the success of UTs season. It gets you 2 games up or down on one of the east contenders. And then there is the perception of the streak continuing or being snapped headed into the last 3 of that stretch.

Each game.

That said, a win against Florida would start some serious momentum. As a true UT fan though, I worry about them all.
