Since the coaching talk is getting silly

Hell, Butch has been working with Saban for a couple of years now, give him another shot.

I'll bet money y'all geniuses that are so ready to get rid of Pruitt will wish we had Butch back when you see who they replace Pruitt with.

The faster we fire em' the fewer and fewer viable options there will be. Gotta give Pruitt time. 2 years AINT time.

The way he was treated...along with many other coaches to wear the orange...I'd not blame him for not even taking the call. We have quite a history of treating our coaches poorly. From Battle to Pruitt, it's the UT way I guess. Pick a scapegoat and ride him till he falls.
Don't forget Jerry Green was treated

Maybe I've just softened since the GA St. game, but I'm not ready to write Pruitt off yet. Our problem is, and has been, not looking at the situation closely enough. If we had, we probably wouldn't have fired Fulmer in the first place. We might have given Dooley a mulligan on his last season given the defensive struggles, and we would NOT have given Jones 5 effin' years to obliterate the program. Let's give Pruitt at least 3 years to shift from Jones' BS spread offense to what he wants the program to be.
Hahaha...of Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt...Butch is by FAR the best of the three (which isn’t saying anything at all, Butch sucked too).

Mike Leach or Urban Meyer. I'll go with Leach. If nothing else, the dude is almost as sarcastic as Spurrier. And he has a good nose for QB's
People are laughing at you guys thinking Urban Meyer is ever going to come to UT..He said some nice things about us and now some of you think he would actually come here?...Hilarious...Leach probably but never Meyer...Not a chance this school would pay him what he wants.

Never liked either.. one has too much baggage and leach has some baggage yet his teams have been great at offense but slacked on D....
Want to rethink that?...Washington St was one of the top 4 teams in the Pac 12 in defense last year...Please remember he is doing all of this with a bunch of 2 and 3 star players.

If and when Pruitt gets let go the admin will hire some mid card coach not some proven WINNER...and that will set TN back yet another 5 years minimum....

Impossible...We are at the lowest point I have EVER seen UT football...Hiring a new coach can only improve the team depending on who they hire...They hire a proven coach and the fanbase will get excited again, Hire some joe blow hot shot assistant and we stay right where we are now.....Nobody and I mean absolutely NOBODY went after Pruitt as a head coach...Only UT

Well they are 2-0 in good games and have a natty and champ game appearance plus a few SEC Titles in the past decade. We are 0-2 vs non P5 opponents and have @ 1-6 record vs AU in the most recent past.

But, hey, if you wanna make fun of em' go ahead ... 🤔
Who's making fun? Their wheels always fall off.

Lol, ridiculous. Do a search and see how many said the same thing about Butch, probably Dooley too. "A high school coach could do better than Butch" "I'd rather have anyone other than Butch".

"Hire a proven coach" that's funny. Who's gonna hire him? Phil? Same Phil that didn't hire Leach? Same one that hired your boy Pruitt? Same one that some thinks wants the job himself and this was all his plan? Good grief. I seriously don't think Hollywood could make up a better story.

Don't look now but a lot of people here that used to scream about others accepting mediocrity are now wishing for it. And still think they are the smart ones.

Urban. He'd get the program to top 10 before quitting for "health concerns"...then UT could get a quality coach.

Leach & meyer are quality, but I think Pruitt pulls this off (long term). I like the way Pruitt thinks. As a former D coordinator, he understands that every team is running the same copy cat offense. The same personnel with little guys spreading things out. Defenses are, of course, expected to get faster,.... so they get smaller. I love to see how coach's adjust.

Pruitt: Responds with more physical personnel packages. He is running 2 TE sets, and attacking with a 80's/90's north/south approach. That is clutch if we are willing to look beyond the obvious mistakes the past 2 weeks.

Some will say he is doing this b/c his QB sucks. I don't think so. The biggest recruit (Bailey) is a pocket passer.

Two other guys are bucking the trends and doing this (Saban & Billichic). Look what BB (Pats) has done with his TE's and Devilin (his FB). One week he throws, the next he pounds the ball.

It’s the fans fault again. All other programs give them a parade and gold watch when they fail.

Butch finished in the top 25 twice, won three bowl games, and beat Florida and Georgia (2X). Was he a good coach? No. But he was better than Dooley and Hillbilly Jer.

Nope. Players supplied the wins for Butch. I'd encourage you to read this book, then come back and tell me you'd take Butch over Dooley or Pruitt. Butch is not only a bad coach but, apparently, a really bad person.

Dooley and Chaney had our offense humming in 2012. He decided to hire a new DC who switched to a 3-4 in his third year and that was his demise. If we had had a defense that year, everything might have been okay.

A lot of people have written off Pruitt after the GA St. game, and I can't blame anyone for that. That was my knee-jerk reaction as well. But I've been thinking about it, and I won't call Pruitt a failure unless A) the team shows little improvement from week to week this year or B) we show little improvement next year. Obviously, if he gets canned, then we won't get to find out.

You couldn’t be more full of crap if you tried. I have no doubt you have broken down the film and really studied the defensive schemes. I am curious, what defensive schemes were we running against Missouri and Vanderbilt? Those same defensive schemes, rolled over when the game counted the most and BYU adjusted to our offense completely shutting it down. This is the same BYU coach who probably will not survive the season. I get it. We all want to think that the great defenses at Alabama were a product of Pruitt, but they haven’t really missed a beat since Smart or Pruitt left. He is our coach and will be for a while but he has shown next to nothing as a coach. The defense has had too many breakdowns and far too many players have been misaligned or completely out of position. Furman gave Ga State more of a game than UT did at Georgia State. We are not witnessing the blossoming of Tom Landry

Where are we at with cloning? Maybe we could pay the family of one of the GOATs to dig him up and get a DNA sample. With accelerated growth we could have a real coach in say, 15 years..... We could initiate the Coach Clone Wars......
