So I’m supposed to believe that these new agents will be battling the large tax firms and in-house groups that have been dissecting the tax code to the benefit of the rich for years. I don’t think so, I’m betting it’ll be the poor schmuck making $75k using turbo tax that didn’t report the $800 he got paid through Venmo for renting his house out for a week.
The 87,000 will be new meat that can only succeed against the low hanging fruit

Right now, they are looking at hiring experts more than anything. I know they want to really go after Employee Retention Credit and cross border related party transactions....

They would be far better served updating infrastructure and hiring experts than bringing on am army of auditors...

You know who they are going to target? People who make a living off tips......... They always promise to get the big fish but that isn't who they're casting nets for..... The very people screaming support for this the loudest to, "make the rich pay" are going to be the main targets of the IRS once this is unleashed........ But lemmings gonna lemming.

So there’s no need to add anything? I mean I have to believe everyone is having their taxes prepared or using some sort of online software so where in the hell are they going to make up for alleged “lost revenue”?

It won't be 87,000 hired. That's how many they could hire without touching IT infrastructure. They will likely not even hire half that...
1/2 that is still 43500 too many.
They won't reach even a tenth of that number. The paygrade and job requirements they've got out for those positions are awful. That's the only positive of this boondoggle.

Of course the IRS owns Obama care so is it possible this is a bait and switch and these new hires will not be focused on income tax revenues

Yup. I think this is pretty simple to understand. I always find it so laughable when the left wants to raise taxes on the "rich". Even if they succeed in doing so, the rich....who own businesses...would simply increase their prices to make up the lost revenue. Example: A fast food chain nets a 10 to 20 percent profit every year. Their taxes go up by 15 percent. They gonna just eat that loss and eventually have to close their doors? Nope! they will write it off and/or increase their prices. Congrats, your burger just went up in cost by 15 percent. Absolute geniuses, and more virtue signalling. Look what we did! We made the rich pay their fair share! Hahahahaha! What idiots!

Nice job. Between the thread title and the post you’re talking out both sides of your mouth by saying we need more oversight because Americans like to cheat the IRS and then quickly reversing course to say most are honest mistakes. I’m guessing you actually believe the first and you’re softening the blow with the second statement to avoid backlash.

I thought the Republicans were able to greatly reduce the additional funds for IRS in this final version of funding bill?
