why are people bashing south carolina? they've arguably got the best two offensive players in the conference.
They had a weak OL last year that got a mobile guy like Garcia beat up... then they lost their better OL's to graduation. They lost their FB iirc and best back up RB. Oh, and they lost their best QB.

people bash the qb like it kept them from beating alabama, tennessee, florida and georgia by double digits last season.
It will be a new guy this year behind a questionable OL. Usually not a good combination.

no one in the eastern division is perfect, but south carolina has a lot less wrong with them than some other clubs. and again, what they do have that is known is enough to carry a team over other potential mediocre clubs.

I do not know if UT will be any good or not. However I think USCe will lose to both UGA and UF.

Their chief advantage is their West schedule and schedule generally: Aub, MSU, and Ark. However they play at MSU and at Ark. Their schedule does layout nice. Their toughest run will be @UT, @Ark and UF in consecutive weeks.

replay this morning and my mind started rolling..

Question 1 : Yes or No... Do you think Tennessee will beat LSU in Knoxville?

Question 2:Yes or No...Do you think Tennessee will win 2 out of 3 in Knoxville vs USC, Uga, LSU

Just curious.

1.) No
2.) maybe, but I'm thinking not.

Not trying to be negative, jmo.

Garcia will be back. I'll be the first to eat crow if I am wrong about that.

Yes- we owe the corn dogs!
Yes- we owe them as well! SC will be better than GA IMO. They have a great RB and Receiver.

I see us going 10-2. We have greater numbers this year on defense and juco players that can help ASAP.

Sturdivant with a knee injury and another proposed starter is rumored to be academically ineligible for next season.

That was confirmed yesterday on the Official Georgia Bulldog Radio Network.... in typical fashion they said he was listed as the starting RT but would have been over taken before the season began....so no loss there.

Of the 3, Georgia is the one I'm the most confident about. When they step in Neyland, its usually a blowout win for the Vols and their returning cast (outside of Murray) doesn't impress me. Idk what to make of USCe, but I like us at home where the cocks usually don't perform. As for LSU, if they get good QB play, they will be NC contenders, so I'm hoping that's not the case. I do think we have a realistic shot at beating all 3 though

I think we can beat LSU and S.C., but Georgia seems to have alot of talent. I think Murray will turn out to be a very good QB for them. As for LSU, they still have ??? at QB. S.C. has a beast at RB, and that alone can make for a long game if were not prepared. I think 2 out of 3 is reasonable, but we can easily lose all 3, or will all 3. Time will tell.

Passing Statistics
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Aaron Murray 209 342 3049 61.1 8.92 24 8 154.5

Receiving Statistics
NAME REC YDS AVG LONG TD
A.J. Green 57 848 14.9 50 9
Kris Durham 32 659 20.6 66 3
Tavarres King 27 504 18.7 63 3

Half of Green's TD's left with this last year. I didn't watch UGA that much, but I'm guessing he may still have something to prove, atleast in my eyes he does. I wouldn't be surprised if Murray hits a slump this year. I am seriously leaning on the fact that Green was that good, and I would also guess that other D's put a lot of focus on him. This could have opened up a lot for these other WR.

If talent is your worry, then LSU should be the game to worry about (as is mine). Top to bottom there will be 2 or 3 rosters at the most better than theirs. Like I said earlier, if they get good QB play, they could sweep the SEC and take the NC. Georgia is no more talented than they've been and they usually don't fair well against the Vols in K-town (not lately)

He has Orson Charles who is probably the best TE in the SEC and who barring injury will make lots of money in the NFL.

Caleb King looks to be back barely but Crowell will be heavily relied upon as a true freshman and even though I wanted him last year, he is no Lattimore. A brand new FB is blocking for him.

He has Tavarres coming back and pairing with Marlon Brown who would have been a Vol except for Orgeron's filthy mouth and a grandmother who knew Lane was snake before our fanbase did. T. King and Marlon Brown are not slouches but...

TN unlike last year will have more than 1 DT and UGA's offensive line has a new coach, and they will be a patchwork with maybe 2 NFL players in their center and a tackle who is a senior who just converted to guard. The other 3 are not worthy of holding JaWuan Jame's jock.

So yeah, we should beat UGA.

in sec games only last season, tennessee was last in the SEC in rushing and sacks allowed.

the offensive line has to improve a lot before anyone can "book it", "bank on it", or claim "we should beat" someone other than vandy and kentucky.

The O-line struggled with pass protection at times, but Simms holding on to the ball too long didn't help those stats. We saw what happened when we had a QB with real pocket presence

LSU has some talent but they lost their EB in Patrick Peterson, not easily replaced.

And I think they are fixin to have a QB controversy. Jefferson has made some big plays for them at times (like his long run vs. us) but has been real inconsistent and the Tiger nation has never been sold on him. So they bring in the transfer kid Mettenberger or whatever from GA who they think is second coming of Mallett, but this kid did not just take over in the spring, so there remain question marks. I remember Joe Thompson and Tim Priest sayin, when ya go two qbs, ya don't really have a qb.

Book this:
Our O-line will be the most improved unit

Simms will not be our QB and we will not be holding onto the ball.

Neal has a year under his belt, TP is TP and will be working hard, and we've added some good backs and brought back TW. Not even counting Fugate picking up blitzes better.

Then you've got the talented guys from last year with no experience now have another year and you throw in new talent like AR and I'll bank that this unit is no where near last in the league in either stat.

Pocket Presents? Isn't that you have for strippers? :eek:lol:

Simms may have held onto the ball a little too long, but the opponents Bray started against are in no way equal to the games Simms started again. With that said, I think it worked to the advantage of Bray to get the starts against Memphis, Vandy, etc. as he's the better talent.

Book this: The UT OL this fall will be more talented 2 deep than any time I can remember. Hiestand has a legit rep as an OL coach and a Super Bowl ring. Barring something catastrophic... the OL WILL improve ALOT... bank on it.

Agreed. Anyone ragging the OL as the weak link will be suprised. I think if we will struggle it will be all on the defensive side of the ball. Specifically giving up 4-5 yrds to a run when it should have been 1-2. LB has me nervous especially if we have injuries.
