6-3 / 217 can Matt play tight-end or is he to slow. I know he needs to put on a few lbs. Maybe to late for him to move, but he sure showed a lot of guts for UT last year.

Matt simms will be a great No. 2 QB for TN next year. A QB with SEC experience as a back up is never a bad thing to have.

If there is a tackling dummy spot he would have the most natural ability.

That was cold and I respect what the kid did but he needs to focus on a degree. And or a second language and play abroad.

I just got done playing basketball with Matt Simms at the TRECs. Not terrible. He can dunk...

Simms can be a big help to UT's young QBs next year w/ his experience but not by learning a new position, IMO. He also may be needed as backup and I personally hope he learns to overcome his bad tendencies and develop into a decent QB himself. He might have to be Daryl Dickey at some point next year. I still remember '85.

I think so, he's pretty athletic.

I really think Milton is missing the boat if he doesn't move to TE.

I know this may be sac-religious but anyone think Rod Wilks would make a good OLB...we need the depth???
and he's listed at 6-6'1", 215. Has speed.

Solid back up. Every team needs one. Just because our former starting qb got replaced, doesn't mean the coaches have to find him another spot on the field. That said; if Matt thinks he can COMPETE for a TE spot, I'm sure they would let him.

I'm very confident that we will need Matt to come in and win a game or two next year, be it because Tyler gets hurt or because Tyler is not performing. I think that, and his eligibility status, is why we didn't see him follow Oku out the door.

I'm sure there was already a post on this, but I thought the same thing about Oku that OP is saying about Matt. He ended up not being the most talented 5* we've seen, but I find it hard to believe that an all-purpose back couldn't find a place on the field when depth is our biggest issue. Perhaps Oku doesn't like the slot.

I don't want him to change positions......I like having a back up with starting experience......very important in the SEC

I believe olb was one of the 3 positions rod played, but he's transferring to mtsu.

First off he will be needed as a back-up, secondly could you imagine him trying to block a DE or blitzing linebacker?? That would be uggggly!

I phrased it a lot more rudely but this is all I'm saying. He's a college backup meaning no NFL but not meaning he's not a good backup.

1. We still need the depth he will provide @ QB

2. Doubt his ego lets him make the switch (not saying he has one, but many would not make the switch because of it.

3. It's too late for the move IMO. :peace2:

Bray from what I've seen seems to be beyond young arrogance, the better at the moment. If I pulled the trigger right now bray would be my starter. chris simms held the ball to long. Was he not a good qb or trying too hard to make something happen. all I know is he took a beating for the vols. He's tuff and a gamer would love to find a productive spot as a starter.
