Simms vs Crompton

The guy who led us to a 7-6 season, after getting death threats. Crompton was a great QB in '09.

Crompton just needed proper development. If he had Kiffin a year earlier he would have been awesome at UT. Simms sucks no matter who is developing him.

Crompton by several miles. The only thing Simms can do well is take a hit.

Ummmm. 1. Crompton is a Vol. We don't bash. 2. Crompton is in the NFL on a practice squad. Must be good enough to impress someone. 3. I would take Crompton today. 4. Simms is a leader. I ll take him even if we lose. We win together and we lose together.

Really. 27 touchdown passes, 13 interceptions, and a 58.3% completion percentage. 2-1 TD-INT Ratio. With a team with hardly anybody to throw too. DMoore was Ok, Gerald Jones was average in '09. Should've beat Alabama, DMoore drops a TD in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl that turns the Momentum. If both of those happen, we are a 9-4 football team.

No he would not. David Cutcliffe worked with him for two years. He's had great NFL coaches work with him. He was great division 3A player, nothing more nothing less. It took him overtime to beat Kentucky in 2009, not to mention getting getting blown out against Ole Miss as a 5th year senior.

i really don't understand why we don't do more of the rollout pass type offense we did with crompton in 09 for simms.

keeps him out of the pocket from getting sacked and he can dump it outside of the hash marks. why not?

There are very, very little rollouts in this offense. In a spread offense that Chaney likes to run, you aren't going to see a lot.

In the West Coast, you'll see rollouts. It can be a staple of the offense.

I love the rollout. I think it's a great passing tool, especially if you struggle to read coverages (aka Matt Simms). With Bray, who does a really good job as a sophomore going through his progression, you necessarily don't need to rollout (although it can be a weapon).

We also don't know Simms throws on the run. He might be terrible. SO that might be part of the thought process.
