When they showed the replay of Bray's second TD pass they showed the sideline reaction and everyone but Simms looked ecstatic and energized.

No disagreement with that. Just saying I could see how Simms would be frustrated. He's hung in there and been a whipping post for several great defenses, all the while playing fairly well, then gets pulled without ever really even messing up. He's obviously not the greatest QB out there, but he's also pretty far down the list of "things that are wrong with the 2010 Vols".

The fact that Chaney was calling 5/7-step drops with a Freshman (Bray) against that USCe pass rush speaks volumes about the way the coaches view Simms vs. Bray.

He has every right to be frustrated... but don't run your mouth when you're clearly outclassed.

Simms held on to the ball WAY too long in the pocket, causing himself get sacked numerous times, including two plays on which he proceeded to fumble the ball away to South Carolina. Two Simms fumbles equalled 14 South Carolina points.

He didn't hold it WAY too long under normal circumstances. He just held it too long considering he is being protected by an offensive line that doesn't look like they could block a pee-wee team right now. You have to admit that they've been absolutely awful all year long. At least some, or most, of the blame has to fall on their heads.

But when a Freshman QB with the SAME O-line can do well and escape from the blitzes says something!

In Simms defense, he had really played fairly well, and was replaced only to watch Bray come in and basically knock us out of the game with an inexcusable pick-6. It was good to see Bray come back and play well after that, but the game was lost on that play. Can't blame Simms for being upset, it's not his fault the line can't block anybody.

How did we lose the game on the pick 6? Pretty sure the game was tied at 24 a few drives after that play.

Yes the line was pitiful today but Simms was holding the ball far too long and that is why he was pulled.

Matt will really be upset this week when dooley says bray new starter...simms was good for this team. Fought hard for them and played tough when he was the best guy for the job. All vol fans should thank him. But his time is done as starter

But today he didn't. He was playing well. God forbid he state facts.

I don't care what the facts are. You don't air our dirty laundry in public. That's very un-leaderlike, to say the least.

Simms needs to grow up. The job was his to lose, and he lost it.

I cant believe people are blaming his 2nd sack/fumble on our offensive line. He held that ball ENTIRELY too long and had plenty of opportunity to step up and/or throw the ball away. It was on him completely.

Stating that kind of fact to the media is the sort of thing that causes rifts in the team.

Why in the world would someone stating an obvious fact cause a rift in the team? I'm pretty sure Bray is well aware that he threw the pick-six, and I also imagine the o-line is pretty well in touch with the fact that they have sucked this year. Unless they are in complete denial, I don't see why this is that big of a problem.

you do realize you are one of the few people other than Simms or his daddy defending him.....right?

So if your sister was a whore would you announce it to the whole world? Not saying she is just giving an example

The game was not lost on that play IMO.There were alot of variables that go in to that, but for me,it was the big play to Alshon Jeffries that did it.

Because a true leader and team player doesn't throw his teammates under the bus and just accepts the fault as his own and supports his team.

Please explain to me what he did to lose the job today. Was it the 10/13? Was it the 2 TD's he threw? For someone to lose their starting job because they fumbled twice due to an a**-awful offensive line that can't block a 5 year old is rediculous. If anything Bray went out and won the job. More than anything else he did, it was impressive to see him play so well after making such a catastrauphic mistake on his first pass of the game.

That and Lattimore's big run to seal it. But we came back to tie it after the pick six. Clearly, that wasn't the deciding factor.

Simms is too slow making decisions an both fumbles were a result of this he needs to move on. A quarterback he will never be. Its a shame we waste so much time on players like him instead of letting the freshman take their licks an learn to play if Simms played the rest of the game we probally would have lost by at least 30.

Because a true leader and team player doesn't throw his teammates under the bus and just accepts the fault as his own and supports his team.

But the fault wasn't his. If the other people on the team are "good teammates" then they will recognize their own failures and not hold any team dividing grudge against Simms. Like I said, nothing Simms said was untrue.
