Catching has nothing to do with a defense. Well, I suppose a little, but the drops and passes going through his hands has been a little ridiculous.

Not a bad idea. The O-Line isn't giving him much time in the pocket, so I wouldn't mind seeing him on a few roll outs to give him more time. At the very worst, he is closer to the sideline to get rid of the ball.

it doesnt pay for UT players to come back for there senior years. Manning aside they usualy pi$$ thier draft picking away. Kid should have bolted. hope he does good at the combine.

Simms has a very long cock and release if you will - imo
Just like some pitchers are quick to the plate and difficult to steal on - while others are slow in their throwing motion. Simms really has to load up and cock his shoulder, particularly on the long throws. This gives him less time to flip it out of bounds versus say Peyton who can release quicker - again imo. I like Simms-- he seems to be making better decisions but this also contributes to his not being able to throw it away on some occasions.

Hard to get rid of the ball when the pressure hes getting is straight up his nose. Most of his sacks he takes one step to the right or the left then hes hit. And like the other guy said, better him take a sack than to anny 1 up to the defense for a pic 6. Sims is learning, I had my doubts, but it doesnt matter what anyone says about him this kid has heart and has got up time and time again without complaint Sims, kudos dude! kudos! :salute:

Sims is doing the best that he can with what giving to him, give him time, he might turn out to be a good QB

He has very poor 'pocket presents'
Seriously has a hard time "feeling the pass rush" sometimes. He'll get better

I think it is, too. It's not as simple as him or them, no matter how badly we might wanna pick a "side".

Simms is one tough QB. I hope he shows off against Georgia and has the best game of his career so far. He deserves a little luck, too.

I can agree to a point; however, the QB's touch on the ball and timing between the (2) have been inconsistent. Luke has never appeared to be a focus in this coaching staffs offensive game plan.

Now the QB coach in me would say that, If it hits your hands, you should catch it.

sure. Anyways. He will be fine. He will either learn to throw it away or he will become a dual threat QB because he is getting used to running for his life.

Stocker is actually ahead of where he was last year at this point when it comes receptions/game. Where he is lacking is the big play threat. He's averaging 4 yds less per reception and is really lacking in the TD department. I'd really like to see him get used more in our Red Zone packages.

Rolling Simms out and using Stocker on an intermediate route seems like a solid option, much like it was last year for Crompton.

WR's are supposed to see blitz and break their routes off.

Kudos to him for sticking in there to see if they'll actually do it... ever.

The player is essentially a freshman on the youngest team in the SEC........

I think you are forgetting about 2008 Crompton. Simms really isn't that bad about getting his passes swatted. It's only happened a couple times this season.

But also by taking the sack, you are risking a fumble. If he doesn't fumble, you have lost yardage. By throwing it away smartly, there is minimal risk of an interception and no lost yardage.

I started a post Sat that basically outlined that his flaws aside Simms has suprised the hell out of me. I can't point to any of our losses and blame him. I'll take his sacks as long as he can/will because all in all he's been fine. Especially compared with other areas on the team.
